Hi All, This is my first post. What a great forum! Now to the problem:
I first started trucking in early 06' I went to school in MO got my CDL and went off to stevens transport for continued training. They pretty much sucked and I had paid cash for school so had no obligations to them. I had a good friend who was working for a small company in MI and they offered me a job so i went, life was good paychecks were good, then one day they closed the doors with no notice. Luckily, on my ride home I found Another small company who hired me 1 month later. Once again awesome experience, great money, but we were pushed to run illegal and I ended up with a few tickets.. THEN, they shut down too... So, I found myself out of work again and with some tickets on my record nobody would touch me. I decided to wait out the tickets and plot my revenge on the trucking industry ( just kidding ) just wait them out and return to trucking after they rolled off my license. So, that time is here, but now I have been off the road so long I have to go back to trucking school to get a shot. Thats fine with me.. i enjoyed trucking school, it was fun. So now my OHIO MVR shows nothing. not one ticket. I ordered my DAC and found that there was only criminal background and drug test info. NO driving record.. this makes me nervous. SO my extremely looong winded question is why is my dac not showing any of the old tickets..? I know they are just barely over 3 years old. and does anybody think ill have a problem getting in with a company fresh out of school for the second time..?
MVR/DAC and my future.. ?

This is a very good question and i think DAC DOES look at mvr, but just not on the copy you get----but the copies companies can order are much more complete/comprehensive. i know, makes no sense.......
Someone else should hopefully chime in who knows more solidly.Chicken Wing Thanks this. -
All of DAC info is submitted by carriers...evidently the carriers you worked for don't use DAC...so get your DMV printout ready to go...and get going already...back to work lazy boy!
Good Luck to you.Chicken Wing and RAILSPLITTER Thank this. -
Thanks for the responses. However, still leaves me wondering. I was filling out some applications last night and found that they were asking for a 5 year history anyway. I am still wondering if I cant see it on my record.. does it exist? I would rather not disclose information that will hurt me if nobody can find it. Would be great if I could get some definitive answers..

Hey, Chicken Wing,
I had the same problem, not with tickets but with a couple of companies folding... they didn't use DAC either, and once they folded they sold off their equipment and vanished into the woodwork, with no means of contacting them for verification purposes. Some companies WILL accept tax forms as a method of verification; however, it seems that most companies want a live body at the other end of the line. There ARE companies out there who don't bother with DAC, and who WILL hire drivers with gaps in their employment records... you just have to find 'em. Try calling some of the companies listed at www.fleetdirectory.com , or try scanning the "Transport" column of Craigslist, not just in your town but in outlying areas and distant cities. You may literally have to make hundreds of phone calls... I know I did. Good luck with all that... "Adios!"otherhalftw and Chicken Wing Thank this. -
my wife was a recrutier for a bit so heres the run down as she gave it to me and has helped me. DAC and MVR are two diffrent things. When a company looks at you they pull both on you. Now most companies as far as tickets go, hold nothing against ya after 3yrs, but still want you to list anything for last 5 which they can ask, and your MVR will show in most cases since you got your lic, so not putting it down, will get you dinged on your DAC for false app. Now as far as DAC goes. I have 2 companies I worked for that closed. 1 was a trucking company. I have only had 1 company give me any crap about not being able to call and verify and that was us xpress. they didnt care what documents I had, they wanted to talk to someone in safety to verify I had no preventable accidents. For the most part, they have all accepted my W-2's as verification. I have also offred copies of my logs if need be, but non have asked, yes, I have every log book and page since i started 3yrs ago. Now keep in mind too, that with CSA2010 starting officially now in nov, companies are getting very tight on hiring practices. Companies are now starting to report onto DAC every preventable and non preventable, reportable or not to DAC, as well as any other violations. Lot of companies are now starting this 12 point log violation system. get 12 points for log violations and your fired, and they put the 12 point violations on your DAC as well as that you were fired, and we all know, if you get fired good luck. anyway, good luck to ya and remeber, CYA. as my trainner told me and my cadre taught me, If you can't afford it, don't do it.
