just a FYI, I dont have a drug problem. I admit I didnt take that part of the job as serious as I should have but I've had lots of jobs, lots of drug tests and only had a problem with one. If I'm givin a second chance in this industry, I can assure you it wont be a problem

I really don't care whether it was a 1-time thing or if you have a problem...that's none of my business. I'm just telling you the way things work within this industry.
Life is a series of decisions. You are where you are today because of the decisions that you made. Sometimes you make a bad choice knowing the consequences. Other times you make a bad choice without knowing what your alternatives may be.
Refusing to take a test is a career ending decision. It will ALWAYS show up whenever you apply for a job. A positive result would have been only slightly better....leaving you with a few options, but your career driving trucks would still be tough to hang onto.
You didn't take your job seriously, and it cost you. You can't change the past, so there's no point wasting time trying to fix that which can't be fixed. The best thing you can do now is to forget about driving trucks and just move on to any other career aspirations you may have (and try not to screw them up, too). -
I used to work at a small company with a guy who asked me on a couple occassions to basically buy my urine because he couldn't pass the random tests. Both times I laughed and walked away...50 years old still smoking pot, get a ###### life already.
Fast forward to a year ago, he got busted dealing dope and had a gun with him...BIG no no. -
OK all kidding aside, you do drugs or drink before you go out & drive==bad mistake. you say that you won't do it again, well thats crap. I had a step-brother that tried to kill himself 3 times because he couldn't get a fix
. you need to come clean & try again in about 5-10 yrs.

By law, the company you worked for has to tell any company you apply at the results and what not for three years. Get a copy of your Dac report. If the company reports to it, see what's listed. If not, the next place you apply at don't put down that company. Say you drove for on of the countless closed down ones...
And don't sweat these blow hards. It's your life, live and learn brother... -
If you ever wonder WHY companies frown upon long periods of unemployment listed on an application, it is due to your advice to just omit whatever company they may get a bad report from.
And those companies that have closed down, there ARE still ways to verify the employment...it's just a matter of how deep the HR department wants to dig. If they cannot verify your employment through that former employer, they may ask you to provide supporting documents...pay stubs, W2, etc...that would prove you worked there.
Actions have consequences. When you try to avoid the consequences of your actions by telling lies, it just digs you a deeper hole to have to get out of. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.Injun Thanks this. -
DOT requires whatever company you work for to have your past 3 years of employment in a little HR folder w/ your name on it. You have to have proof of that employment such as them signing a paper saying you were employed w/ them or an old W2.
I believe in honest and integrity, even if it crucifies me. Tomarrow I'll learn if my old company will take me back or not. Sounds like they probably wont. I appreciate yall's honest oppinions even if some of you are pieces of crap -

Also,
While the results of a test are confidential, if you refuse to test, there are no results from that test that was never taken, and no record of the test as it was never taken. I have not seen anything that would prevent a former employer from stating "quit rather than submit to a drug test" if asked by any future employer. However, if you had taken the test and it came back hot, you would have had options available to you.
Just sayin'.
Either way, though, smokin' up wasn't too brilliant of an idea. -
Well my old company didnt want me, so I can honestly say I'm done w/ trucking. I'm starting college classes next week as a Biology major with the help of my Dad. I had wanted to drive again to make the money myself but that isnt gonna happen. Again thanks for the info guys, and no hard feelings to the pieces of crap that responded. I work at the truck stop in Calera, OK. I'll keep the food fresh and the toilets clean for you guys. I put "Trucker Apreciation Week" on my calender at work so the bosses will put something together for you all.
take care and be safe -
