Well after going to orientation at JCT and them not hiring me for not slowing down to increase following distance after a car passed me doing over 10 mph faster than me on the roadtest (total BS just an excuse not to hire me due to my weight) I leased a truck from Risinger Bros Transfer. I am happy as can be and I thank JCT for not hiring me. My fixed expenses are about half of what they would of been at JCT. I get paid $1.03 per mile plus fuel surcharge. I get a fuel discount that averages about 30 cents below pump price. I have averaged 3300 miles a week and we do 75% drop and hooks. We get $200 a day layover pay and $26 an hour for detention pay after 2 hrs at a customer.
jlkklj777 Thanks this. -
Glad you found a place you like... best of luck to you!

BTW... I know of at least two guys your size at JCT... one we referred. -
It's been a little over 7 months for us at JCT and we are happy here. The hubby is a solo driver... I am the Driver's Assistant.
JCT is not a perfect company... there are worse and I am sure better fits for each driver. Not every company fits every driver. They have their good points and bad. It is up to each of us to decide IF a company/situation is working for you... not everyone will. If it isn't... decide... do you give it more time or move on? It is an individual choice. No good or bad... just what it is.
Recently we have had a series of repairs... and 3 breakdowns (2 on the trailer, one on the truck) on one load. It happens... you don't want it to, but it does... law of averages... or Murphy's Law... could be both. We have drained the maintenance account to the negative side, but only briefly... we'll be in the positive in a couple of weeks. It is a part of the job... the truck is your tool and you have to keep your tools in shape.
Miles... some weeks we run 3200... some 2700... occasionally a 1800 week... and some times a 4500 plus week. And yeah... sometimes you sit a bit right after being down for repairs. We are paying the bills, eating well and putting money away.
Some times we run into equipment (trailers) that need repairs... we ALL do. It happens... you take care of it. Some times you want to gripe about it... or the miles or the repairs or the.... you get the idea.
If you're not happy... decide why. Every job/company is going to have its pros and cons. No one faults another for moving on to a place that they will be happy at... make more money, etc.
What I am saying is that in spite of it all many of us are happy here... until we choose to go someplace else. We make the best of each situation that comes along... and sometimes we gripe and complain to each other... then we move on.Vette1967, jlkklj777, mushroom1464 and 7 others Thank this. -
When did you meet me to know what size I am? Their exact reason was because a car passed me on the turnpike going 10 miles an hour faster than me and I just let it walk away and did not slow down. Now who slows down when a car passes them??? Every other guy in the truck was told what they did wrong when they did it but they never said a word to me when this happened. He was just waiting for me to do something wrong and when I did not he used that. Funny thing is I have several guys that work at JCT who totally agree I was screwed over but you who don't even drive know better right?

Hey now bigkid be nice. No need to be snarky in here. We all agreed u got done wrong for whatever reason it may be. If you wanna attack dabs for that then you're not welcome here
-
Well for some reason she seems to know all about my situation and knows exactly what size I am and I am just pointing out she really don't know anything about it. For the record I am 5'11" and weigh 410 lbs but I passed their DOT physical and I do not have sleep apnea.

Hey Big guy,
I do not see how Dabs was saying anything negative at all about your size. She was simply attempting to state that she did not agree with them either, as she knows of others who are just as large. And, as to how she know how big you were, you told everyone here how big you were when they let you go.
I agree with Alan.....if you want to pick on Dabs, you ar e picking in the wrong place.
Best of luck to you. It sounds as if you have a great place to settle in.Alanp613, Haystak, Dryver and 1 other person Thank this. -
BigKid, I'm not busting your chops, I followed you on here too, and like most I too think you got a raw deal. On the size, on 4/20/2010 you put your height and weight.

Ok time to break the tension, went into the yard today and the wife got 4 more speeding violations from logs for an average of 67 mph, imagine that our truck does 73, hmmmmmmm. Anybody happen to know how many point it takes to get fired?
