Class A is driving any tractor trailer combination. Class B is any straight truck. You can be 18 to get your CDL and do intrastate but you need to be 21 to do interstate.

i talked to a few ppl and im guessing no ones insurance will cover me huh? Also wondering if i got my permit would i be able to drive my friends truck without either of us getting in trouble? he is an O/O obviously.

My hobbies include horses and anything to deal with automotives. I love fast cars and big trucks. Im originally from vt and if anyone is passing threw nashville headed thru vermont new hampshire maine or mass and wants a rider lemme know..

Missy, I drove without insurance for a month and was accident free. Now one thing to remember about the permit is it be renewed once and you will have to take all those tests over again after a year. Consider getting a job in the logistics side where you meet customers and get to know the unloading/loading part of trucking. Knowledge of this area will be valuable if you plan on making this a career and going O/O. Good luck.

Many OTR companies won't take you on until you're 23, for some obscure insurance-related reason(s)... age discrimination, no doubt!!! :biggrin_25523:
