I believe they also make the sleep number bed in a size that would fit a truck. Just google sleep number bed.

See my post just above yours:

That came directly from the select comfort web site. Kinda pricey!

Okay so I'm dealing with a pretty standard size (34/80), looking at a memory foam mattress (used to haul and sell them back in the day, for a very large furniture store, so I am fairly familiar with their comfort level and find the better multi layered ones give me enjoyable sleep.)

Now I'm looking for one to go into a sleeper rather than a bedroom. I'm not entirely crazy about shopping online, but not averse to it either, as I have bought good and bad things and found that online shopping is almost no different once the due diligence is done. I do want not to have to be hauling a regular twin into the sleeper though... so if it comes folded or rolled up I don't mind. (Any pitfalls to watch out for if I get one shipped in such a form?)

However I want to know what you all have tried, used, done, liked, disliked, pitfalls to avoid, etc.

The original mattress had been thoroughly rained in, and was fairly sad work to begin with (roof leak, now fixed) and not very comfortable. Nevermind too small for that space...

    I will take suggestions.

I have already looked at North America Mattress Corp (truckmattress.com), absolutemattress.com (these guys seem to only offer them rolled up and in 32 and 36 inch widths though), and visited my local mattress guys and Haynes furniture stores. Prices aren't tickling my fancy, to be sure, and wrestling a full grown twin (even foam) into my cab worries me somewhat (getting the upholstery pannels and the old mattress out was bad enough when cleaning up the water damage, I don't look forward to all that work.

Any advice as to claims, shipping quality, etc? I want something 34/80 if possible, since this is a somewhat long sleeper bunk, and my current assortment of blankets and pillows works, but isn't conducive to a thorough 8 hour rest, I keep waking up at random hours, rather annoyed... and sore.

Thanks ahead for any and all help.

We went to a foam supply place and cut the foam to match the sleeper size. Our bed size is 6 to 10 inches thick and the foam is great and lasts for over ten years.

I'll tell you what I did I have a buddy that sells matt's so I got a damaged king size latex matt. and used an elec. fillet knife and cut down to fit my truck. But when you cut the cover open cut it over size of what the matt. needs to be and after you cut the matt. get some spray on headliner adhesive spray it on and fold cover back down just like a x-mas gift and put that side against the wall of the bunk and it looks like it was made for the truck. And by the way that is the most comfortable matt. I have ever slept on

A pillow top mattress would be nice.

My mother is from Austria. She made me a throw to put on the mattress that is filled with 4 inches of down feathers. These are common in Europe. Like sleeping on cloud 9.
