OSHA fines failed carrier $250,000 over firing two truckers

I thought that any trucking issues were handled by the DOT, I always thought OSHA wouldn't help us at all. I guess I was misinformed.

 

Maybe OSHA is the answer to all the crappy equipment on the roads today...

 

Osha can go into any business! they can be brutal too. I worked for a company that had someone get hurt. they came in and #### near put them out of business with their fines. but the company got better afterwards.

 

It's because of things like that that we have such good working conditions here in Canada. If an employee complains the labour dept. acts. If things are unsafe and someone complains you don't want to be the owner of that business. Because Canada has strick laws regarding employment we don't have a problem with illegal immigrants. They can't work so they don't come here. If you are caught with an illegal employee not only will the labour people be on your case but the compensation board is going to fine you big time because it's the law that all employees have comp. That's just the provincial people. The feds are really going to slaughter you. It could cost you your business and you might go to jail.

 

Canada doesn't have aliens because the U.S. is a big buffer zone.

 

Aliens come no matter the distance and buffer. policy and enforcement is what makes a difference. American establishment and corporations wanted influx of cheap labor and now they turn them into a scape goat. If they didn't want it this way, it wouldn't be.
