First, I had the computer hooked to the truck. Found a few flaws. Amazing how just adjusting the PPM can change things. There were a few other technical things done. A couple sensors. Made a few changes. Basically I haven't done anything major. No add on's... yet. Stay on top of the fuel and air filters. Don't settle for "I shined my flashlight thru the air filters and they look good" speech lol and dont rely on what qualcom or someone looking at a computer tells you that the truck is getting. Put it on paper. Qualcom only shows approx at that particular time. I have gotten up in the low 7's but that didn't last long lol I love the journey from Kingman to the Colorado River... 12's every time lol But one major factor now matter what truck you drive or how you drive it is.... idle time.

Well Haystak If your ever in the 29 palms CA area by the Marine base north of Palm Springs I will get you a cup and we can talk truckin.
I see about the changing filters and that stuff. Trust me I what you mean, I drive a nice 2003 Ford with a diesel in it and I have owned it since new. I do all the work my self or my father who just so happens to be a mechanic for Ford does it. oil every 5K miles and fuel filter every 10-20 depending on how bad it looks. I just changed my air filter finally for the first time in about 2 years or 40K miles and the old one actually was worse then I thought. I have a big old filter that you would see on one of your typical class 8 rigs. Got it all rigged up on mine so it gets more air.
I know from the expierience I have with diesel and the knowledge of them that if you put a better flowing muffler on and a better flowing air filtration system your MPG will go up. Not sure about your OTR trucks but ever since the ULSD came out I usually put in 1 oz. of 2 stroke oil for every gallon at least on long trips and it helps my trucks fuel mileage and it runs smoother to. It gets that extra lube that the higher amounts of sulfer use to do to our injectors, lift pumps, and injection pumps. Dont do it if you have a 08 or newer emmisions motor with a DPF. -
ok i should not entertain this discussion bigkid but im bored and cant sleep .....sir my d@## is bigger than yours first two weeks leased on to my current carrier i took home almost 5200 and i ran less than 5000 miles not that anyone cares
now point is i looked into that company you are leased on to and while the cost plus discount is kewl ...i have that too you are going to get hurt their pretty bad when fuel hits 5 dollars a gallon again they advertise an ok rate but a ###### fsc.....so good luck i dont like to deal with a company that is overly concerned with their detention and layover means they do it a lot
and 200 hundred a day man i'd go broke with that kind of layover and a payment.....with jct i got laid over one time in 6 months and got 350 plus another 40 for driving back accross the street so they would take the rejected product.....so that would be like double and jct was just so much fun to work for i tried to go back now that they lowered the age for o/
o trucks but no dice to many carriers in the past 12 months....but if you noticed i didnt flame nobody with the deal i got nor cry sour grapes because they didnt change their o/o policy 3 months ago when i left
but back to my original point .....what cha got is ok but in my opinion it aint #### and mine is still bigger for what its worth ...
fr8tshkr Thanks this. -
Haven't had time to get on much they've been keeping me busy. And if I get another chicken load I think i may grow some feathers lol . But here in the great town of Hooks TX don't think it's changed much since I left when i was about 16. Anyway going to Paris, TX and hoping I don't go to pilgrims pride from there. Do we load at campbell soup by chance?
-
You sir are flat out lying. We get layover pay if we sit a day because there is no load which has nothing to do with a customer. I got mine because of a customer where the load was not ready but if they did not have a load for me I get layover pay for that also. It is spelled out in the lease. I specifically asked about layover pay at JCT and they do not pay it because of a lack of freight. the other thing I can't wait to see is how you guys survive once those electronic logs get put in. Everything I am making I am doing it legal.

I've been with this company for a few years now, started as a lease op,and now own my truck,to all the idiots saying you cant own your truck here' is just not true,if your a good driver and dont complain all the time, you can and will own your truck,if your pron to turning down loads alot, yes you wont get many miles, the take care of the drivers who take care of the company, sometimes they may need to give you a short haul to get you a better run,be ontime be complient, just have pride in what you do and you can succeed very well at jct,Shawn jarman L0447

I have been following this thread for a while. Really enjoyed reading LMB's thread. I notice he is RARELY posting on this thread now, which HE started.
Can we PLEASE lose all this BS about my *** is bigger than your *** crap and get back to the ORIGINAL intent of the thread, which was why I like JCT. This thread is listed under "Discuss your FAVORITE trucking company" If you want to whine, complain, and bash ANY company, PLEASE go to "Report a BAD company" thread and start a thread on JCT if you need to, but please, let's steer back onto the ORIGINAL intent of the thread.
Thanks all,
DavidPanhandle flash, dabs, covenantbiker and 2 others Thank this. -
I agree... If I want to hear whining, all I need to do is turn the CB on... still enjoying reading this thread, even if ain't rosy all the time but that is life in trucking..
Now let's get back to our regular scheduled program
