anyone know if Walgreens in Windsor, WI takes you early? I've been given a 200 mile load that apparantly no one wanted. It was supposed to pick up 6/10 and deliver tonight at 2100. I'm picking it up tomorrow sometime after my 99. I have this feeling that Customer service will give me an appt wed. nite or something.

I love 200 mile loads when they are planned right... this one is going to be a pretty good paying one. $85 (dh) + $100 (short haul bonus) + $170 (mileage) + $60 (FSC) = $415 - (cost of 45 gal of fuel).

BTW... I traded in my volvo in for a shiny red pete.

If he's over 25% for the month he'll have to pay. Not quite like you do, where every percent you pay, but he'll pay for it.

The more money part is the problem. Sure, you might be seeing $14 an hour when you drive truck, but you're not paid to get loaded or unloaded, and even if you're there long enough to get detention, you may not get it if the shipper/receiver fights it. you won't get it if you're there late ,or if you show up 6 hours early with the promise of an early load.

You're going to give up everything you like and nearly every hobby you have. you won't get paid if you break down and you're not broken down at least 24 hours. If you have a pet, you can't bring it with you, and if you decide you're going to anyway, you risk a chance of getting canned. If you hunt for another job you'll very likely get canned on the idea you did it "on the company's time"

Honestly? I'd find another job besides trucking, or if you come to work, don't expect anything. don't expect a good truck, good trainer, or high miles, and accept what you get. Tough out your year, and then decide what to do.
