He said average of 3500 meaning that the high end would be higher, its #### near impossible to run over 3600 a week legal and thats if all you are doing is interstate running which we all know isnt all we do. Can you run more than that? Sure it can be done but you are going to run into problems with legality either running over your 11 or speeding. Ill let you guess on how I know this LOL -
You must be in a neutered truck. Either that or you run up and down I-5 a lot. If you are allowed to run the speed limit in all states and stay out of the Western three as well as the usual Northeast suspects, it is easy to run legally 4200 miles in a week. That's only 600 miles per day which, even in a neutered truck, can be done in about 9.5 hours (if your average speed is just over 63 mph)
So: 7 days, 9.5 hours driving per day=66.5 hours, which leaves 3.5 hours for loading, unloading, fuel, pretrip....or whatever else you log on duty for. I know, that's a half hour each day, but if you have dual 150 gallon tanks, you shouldn't need to fuel every single day. If this guy offers longer runs, you won't be loading and unloading every day either. I, personally, ran a 4200 mile week in a Swift company truck. Legally. That was a really good paycheck, too.
So yes, 3500 average is absolutely plausible...considering this is only an average of 500 miles per day, which can be done in 8 hours even in a neutered truck. If you want to do it in 6 days and have a day of hometime, it's just under the 600 mentioned above.
It sounds like you got a ticket from an ##*wipe who couldn't do math. Or, as mentioned above, you were on I-5. -
You can log 4200 legally maybe but somewhere along the way you were speeding. And no 1-5 for me thanks mostly I-40, 81, 75, 65, 24, 10, 20 for me. But you are right about one thing my last truck was a dog LOL. But yes Ive had 4200 mile weeks and no i wont say how many hours it took me. Usually 3600 kept me right at the limit of the 70. And yes 1 fuel 1 PTI and an unload/load a day so its 45 minutes a day off the 70 for me. I guess it is possible to average 3600/wk but that isnt counting any home time either and Id rather not be a slave to the truck, and your route would have to be one of only a few that doesnt run into any 55mph speed limits and never hit a construction zone and also has DCs right off the exit to the interstate.
