I am considering going to ozark. i live close to memphis and it would be convenient. I've read what is on here about them, but it is kinda dated. Can anyone give me the wrap about how they are now?

Been with Ozark for awhile and as you may read it my post about them it really comes down to they no better and in most ways no worse than any other company out here today. About the only reason i stay with them. Wouldnt be any difference if i change to another company.
My biggest dislike is that they are still paying zip to zip instead of practrial miles which is about a 12% difference in miles. And they dont require everyone to have Haz on their D/L. Which by the time you add the extra wait time for a load just because you have Haz. and the extra miles due to having to go around ever maj city , that adds up to alot on lost paymiles. Alot of companys are now starting to pay extra for a Haz load.
Find a company you get payed for what all you have to do if you can find one lol.

Hi, My name is gypseygirl and I live in MD. MY boyfreind and I are looking for a good company to drive team for. We are considering Prime but alot of flack about them. It's so hard to find a good trucking company. Why is that? Seems like everyone of them are cut throats! He has several yrs experience and I have 5 yrs. I came in off the road in April to tend to personal reasons with my elderly mother but ready to hit the road again. if anybody has any good ideas please post. We would be very interested in what you have to offer.
    Thanks so much!

Ozark is a so so company just about like others out here. They have there good points and bad points,. But to be fair if your planning on running as a team OZARK is not a company to work for.
They run mostly short runs 350/500 miles a day. Non of there customer base is team friendly.
I talked to them not long ago about putting my wife on for running team and advised against it by Jessie the safty man. they just don't have team freight.

Well, I went thru orientation the week after July 4th. Took a bit longer than I had hoped, but we had a big class(18) and one of the guys that does it was on vacation. First day was drug test and road test. Road test is easy. They took us in groups of 4. One would drive a while, then pull over and swap, and so on. The key things they were looking for is leaving space. When at a stop light, stop 15 feet back from the line, or if a vehicle is in front of you, leave room to go around if needed. Common sense stuff. Don't speed, tailgate, or hit stuff basically. Then you will do a backing test. Nothing crazy, just a 90 between 2 trailers on the yard. Then the rest was paperwork, videos, and all the usual stuff. The accomodations were amazing. It was basically a 1 bedroom apartment I was in. At the end of the orentation, we got our trucks. Mine is a Freightliner columbia. Its now got over 620,000 miles on it, and is about to be traded. Thats cool with me because Ive been here 2 months and am about to get a newer truck already....most likely with an apu. I've gotten good miles. 2500-3200 a week, and they seem to be good about working with you on getting home. One thing I do like is what the recruiter told me is what I am seeing, not lie to get me there and then hit me with the truth like lots of companies do. Well, thats the past 2 months in a nutshell. Any questions, just ask!

It would be interesting if u could update every week or 2. Maybe give details of ur loads. Pickup location city and state to delivery point. How many miles each load pays. It would be nice seeing what kinda running area u are working in. There are alot of other threads on here where drivers are doing similiar posts, and i find them fun to follow. Just a thought. Good luck!

Not to put a bad light on whydontchahey cause i do not know the perons. He/she could be a very up right person. I dont know.
How every be wise never place any info on here or any posting site about details of your loads thats not a good idea at all.
Thats one way how bad people can start to track traffic of trucking companys and drivers to maybe down the road some where do bad things, if you get the meaning.

Again I do not know whydontchahey nor do i mean to say this person is not a good perosn .. Its just pays to be careful.

jimtruker...you can post A LOT of info without disclosing actual customers, their commodities and their locations...it's done on here all the time.

Nothing wrong with being careful but, you're almost up to paranoid...lol
