Common courtesy is becoming a rarity, AussieJosh.
59Panhead Thanks this. -
I've had good & bad all over, it would be impossible for me to list all the bad ones.
My biggest complaint is having to wait for a drink refill or them not taking my empty plates off the table in a timely manner.
Sometimes you can be real nice and still not get them to move any quicker, good waitress get a tip, mediocre & bad wait staff get no tip. They are solely responsible for getting a decent tip.Big Don Thanks this. -
AS 59 said, depends on the service and attitude.
Me personally, the better the service the better the tip.

I left my watch in the shower at the TA in Eloy, AZ. After I walked to my truck I realized that I didn't have it and returned to the shower. I was expecting to see the guy who cleans the shower to be wearing it, but he had turned it in to the front desk with my shower receipt from the kiosk. So that means he dug through the little trash can under the sink to find my receipt. i was shocked.

I did the 4lb burger challenge at RPlace in Morris, IL off of I80 with a few people. The waiter was real cool and actually left most of our beers off the bill, and got a substantial tip for that move!
I think Mike was his name, he was pretty young maybe 18 or so. -
The best waitress you ever had was the worst waitress someone else had yesterday. Why is it always the waitress's fault? As if, all the customers are "angels".....Not demanding, right? Or rude? "I want my eggs just perfect" or " Can I get extra lemon with my water"? "I asked for a separate plate for my toast". Com'on people, get real. It's a meal in a truck stop, not a banquet dinner with a dignitary. Order it, eat it and get on down the road.
Saddle Tramp, puncher, Big Don and 1 other person Thank this. -
It is the server's JOB to serve meals, drinks etc to the customer. The customer should NOT have to kiss a server's fanny to get good service.
Good service DESERVES a good tip.
TRUTH IN ADVERTISING:
There used to be a motel/restaurant/bar on CA. SR. 86 at Salton City. (Between Indio and Brawley.) It was a decent place to eat, when it was open. They were only open in the winter, as it was owned by "snow birds" from Canada, and when the highway was made into a four lane, the place came down.
Anyhow, when you walked into the bar/restaurant, the first thing your eyes caught on was a simple sign. It read:
THIS AIN'T BURGER KING. YOU TAKE IT OUR WAY OR YOU DON'T GET THE SON OF A BEECH!Last edited: Jun 17, 2010
