I think I have a pop up virus in my laptop. About every 4-5 minutes down in the tool bar something opens up for a second and goes away, just a empty box with a file icon on it. But it will freeze any program I am running at the time and I have to close all and start over again. My McAfee finds nothing (all up to date) and scanned from the Norton web site and they find nothing. Any idea's on what I can do? I think I may have got it from downloading free music but not sure.

It doesn't hurt to run another virus protector...I have this one.
    http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2

    Also RUN...http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html

If that don't help you may have to dump your computer and buy the disc to reload it and start over.

I had to do this which is a good thing once in while to clean all your computer files and start over.

It sounds like adware or spyware. I'd get Ad Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy and run them before I'd reload everything
Reloading is the last option in my book
    AD Aware @ http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
    Spybot @ http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

Sounds like Adware or Spyware. Try Ctrl Alt Dlt and see whats running in the background, If you don't reconize something click on it and click end. Or check the add remove programs, for anything you may accidently have installed..a few programs can and will do that.

PS: After you run a sweep if it finds anything, let it delete it then reboot and then re-sweep.

Then it sounds to me more and more like spyware/adware. Ya try a spyware removal tool. Try...... Downloads.com. They have lots of freebies.
