Pros... depending on the deal, you can make more money than a company driver.
Cons... you can loose your #####.
Get some experience as a company driver. Talk to the lease ops at your company, and hook up with someone who is making it work. Find out what they're doing, and see if it will work for you. It's a business, and that settlement check is cashflow into a business. It's not your paycheck. The risk is on you when you lease.robbiecox6 and The Challenger Thank this. -

Why would Anyone pay a companys Truck payment , insurance , fuel , repairs , permits , road and fuel taxes ????
If you want to drive "your" own truck save your money and do just that .
A companys biggest expense will always be the tractor . They love drivers who lease purchase . Wouldn't you ??

I would run away as fast and far as I can. In the trucking industry it is not advisable to lease a truck from when your employer when they control EVERYTHING. A couple of people on here have tried the lease and failed because of them.
Going the O/O option is much better providing this is what heart is set on. Companies like Landstar and Sunco carriers require 1yr of experience and a road test. Also some companies require 6 months. Therefore it is best to buy a truck providing you can put the d/p down and run profitably.
Good luck in your decision.
