Just want to say that getting my cdl was probably the best decision of my young life. I was very lucky to find a great job with a great company that really cares about us drivers. I'm writing this with my phone so its not gonna be too long of a post. I'm coming up on 3 months with the company and I have no complaints. Got my cdl in the middle of february.I haul fuel and propane and its awesome. I am home 2 or 3 nights a week and usually max out my 70 in 6 days. Besides getting paid by the mile, I also get paid for the load and wait time. It makes me feel really good to drop 9000 gallons of gas at a gas station. I'm like a legal drug dealer feeding americas biggest addiction.
I love my new career!!

It's much better when you can drop 12,450 gallons at a shot in just under 20 minutes.

Lol yea that would be nice. But I'm just a rookie so I don't get to haul doubles yet. Takes me 40 minutes total to drop including hooking everything up and putting it away. Lovin it

It's great to read of a newbie getting their feet wet and loving what they do. That's what it's all about.
Continued success to you and best of luck! -
Congrats to you! I hope that I am able to find similar success once I complete school.

Hey, jamin22
Do you get the job right out of school?
What company do you work for? -
Congrats on the good job!!!!!!
but 4 months, is not quite yet a career......... -
No, you're right, it's not quite yet a career......but a GREAT start to one!

Congrats Jamin! It's great to hear a positive story. I'm planning on going to driving school in the fall, and I have read a lot of negative comments about the industry in this forum. Your post is encouraging. Continued good luck to you!

You'll get there. But they are not doubles which is a very common mistake. The truck is what we call a truck and trailer. The first tank is bolted to the power unit. Then there a pintle hook with a draw bar permanently mounted to a 4 axle trailer. There's no fifth wheel and I know you would love this type of set up because I can take this 85 foot truck where semi's can not go. It only pivots in two places and backing is a breeze.
