HINDSY, have they told you what their idle time policy is? I asked the Program Director at SAGE if they would call their contact at Roehl to find out about APU's, and Roehl said only about 60% of their fleet is so equipped, but they're working on the rest. When asked about their idle time policy, Roehl said it's explained at orientation. I'd like to work for Roehl, but I'm not going to roast like a pig in the sleeping berth in 95 degree weather like we're having here today in NC. Thanks!

Maj is correct... not much down time between excersizes. Remember that you don't have to hurry while you are doing them either. The tester never pushed me to hurry up. Take your time, do them correctly and BREATH and you will be better for it. I am 38 and 6'2" 300+lbs. My heart rate never went over 128. I think that was only once and the rest of the time was under that. The one thing I had any trouble with at all was the crouch and going under the trailer. You are not permitted to touch anything with your hands while under the trailer. You may put one knee down once there, but no hands. Sounds strange to me too. I would have liked using a hand and frankly when I'm under the trailer on the road I'll be using my hand.
I was sweating plenty by the end of it, but no high heart rate. Just make sure you are doing plenty of squats. By the end My legs were weakl:biggrin_25526:

    Exactly!

It is indoors and inside a trailer while inside a garage.

I am trying not to care/worry about this, any insights about how easy they are actually would be appreciated. I am 36 so my target can't meet or exceed 165.6.[/QUOTE]

165 sounds pretty easy to be under to me. I was not sure and I am very happy to have been under the limit.

I do my orientation stuff starting next week. I will let you know when I find out. I think that eventually all there equipment will have APU's. Just saves a lot of fuel in the long run. The vehicles that are close to being out of the fleet are not getting them. They probably have a year or number of miles that they are not going to put APU systems in. The idle policy and fuel bonus is different for with and without the APU.

Maj- Do you have the answer to this? What is your number to hit and do you have an APU?

Idle percentage standard varies each month if you don't have an APU. I forget what they are but they were lowered last year at the same time that they cut Canada and New York pay in half. It's 4% if you do have an APU, whether it's functioning or not and whether your bunk heater is working or not. So if you can't get your bunk heater fixed (actually the most common complaint I heard while working there), you won't get a raise.

I wanna hear this too. My biggest enemy is heat, can't stand it. So to say the least I really hope to get an APU.

Thanks Jacob, to me those numbers don't seem too bad. However I don't know what that actually adds up to. At least they change with the seasons.

Well, there was a missed call on my phone today from a strange number, so I called it back and it happened to be the Fort Atkinson Dean Medical Center. They were already closed so I didn't get to talk to anyone. I'm assuming this was to set up a DOT physical?? I guess I'm wondering if this is really where I'm going to have to go, because Fort Atkinson, WI is farther away then RDTC in Marshfield! It's like a 3 hour drive for something that takes less then a half hour!! Doesn't make any sense to me. I guess I find out when I call back tomorrow, but I'm thinking about calling my recruiter and seeing if they messed up somewhere. You'd think they'd have a place for me to go closer to Green Bay for this.

JACOB, since I'm a newbie to trucking can you tell me what these percentages mean? Is it the percentage of allowable idle time based on my actual driving time for the day or another period range?

Hindsy, do you know what your HR was leading up to the pre-screen? Did you practice any of the exercises and monitor to see where you were at? I bought this S7 watch and I have been around 120-140 on the exercises. It is really aggrevating because I am not that out-of-shape. I am like you too (6'3", 270, 36 yrs). Thanks, and I will stop obsessing about this.

I will add that for each exercise I add 10lbs and 20' to the trailer walk and double the squats. I want to build in a 25-30bpm margin of error.
