Fender mirrors are awesome........laying in a dumpster. You can add 50 mirrors and if your too stupid to look in them they're pointless. "safety" devices like these IMO just makes the driver lazy and dependent on them and they go completely brain dead when they get in a truck without them. If fender mirrors, warning alarms or cameras are the only thing keeping you from running someone over then maybe Taco Bell would be a better suited occupation.
Funny how a company specs all the "safety" BS they can when they order trucks but have no problem sending the drivers qualcom messages. Lost count of the number of company steering wheel holders swerving all over the road with the keyboard on the wheel wearing his truck stop special fingerless leather gloves and cowboy hat.But I guess you don't need to pay attention when you have mirrors.

I love having a mirror on the right fender. If there is enough light out I can use it to blind side back up too. Had a guy tear it off in Louisville about a year ago, and you don't realize how much you use it until it isn't there! Only 20 miles to the dealership, and I about wore myself out making sure nothing was beside me.
I never had one on the left side, how I have my mirrors set, and what I can see out the window, I don't think I could justify one.johnday Thanks this. -
Where did the "if you're too stupid to look at them" comment come from? I'm just guessing but if someone says they like them, wouldnt you think they are in fact LOOKING at them??
They make drivers lazy and braindead? Wow, OK. Im sure you feel the same way about things like, power steering, air ride suspension, air conditioning, cruise control and a whole other list of bells and whistles that wernt around 5o years ago.....
Now hold on there, friend....... I dont think them BS lane alert cameras were the brunt of the conversation but I hardly think Taco Bell is an option to having a tool for knockin out blindspots but too each is own....
Only supertruckers think like that!!!Azeron, Freebird135 and johnday Thank this. -
Robin: Holy batsh#t, batman. The drivers are arguing again, but this time over fender mirrors. Is there any hope they will ever agree on anything.
Batman: For-get-about-it, Robin. They need to argue to relieve the boredom of the road. Besides, no two drivers drive the same or think the same, but, ssshhhh, be quiet now, they seem to think they should all be the same.
Robin: But, Batman, no two people are the same.
Batman: I know Robin, but if they knew it, it would spoil all of our fun.johnday, RW., Freebird135 and 1 other person Thank this. -
im glad yer getting a kick out of this......

Some people do not choose to utilize certain equipment for various reasons, but primarly because they can drive down the road fine without them. This group of people generaly take the stance that it's fine if others choose to.
Then we have the other group, usually newbs who've only driven a mega fleet shaker with an automatic trans with training wheel mirrors and EOBRs, that have chip on their shoulder, calling everyone else supertruckers. These are the loudest talkers and quick to point out to everyone that what they learned in shcool and with their mentor with 6 months experience, is also what has to be best for guys who've been at this game for decades. If their mega fleet forces them to do something a certain way, then by god it should apply to everyone out here. #### already.Jfaulk99, RW. and GRAYMATTERS Thank this. -
Yeah, I didn't like them until I got in the first truck that had them and wondered how I survived the first 20 years without them! I got put in a loaner while mine was getting a service while at the yard and it didn't have them and I was so lost without them! If I ever buy my own again I'll have at least the right one on! But if not it'll be stuck to the back of the bug shield if nothing else!
Now you can have that silly arsed radar system that tells you how close you're following as it's to noisy and do you really need to know when you go under a bridge or power line or street light? Thanks to a womans hose that thing #### until I pulled into the yard and got a truck that didn't have it on it!johnday Thanks this. -
I like to see the "no ugly mirrors" guys when they're maneuvering around within a chemical plant. Especially when there's construction going on. Lots of clunks and thunks as they try to drag the trailer wheels over piles of pipe and such. Not long ago I watched a big Pete bust a tire on a concrete post while making a hard right between a bunch of tanks. Not only did he do it once but backed up and hit it again. Security made him unhook and then escorted him out of the plant. Actually he was lucky, the post was protecting a valve on a 10 inch line.
johnday Thanks this. -
