You're not actually serious... right?
Then bring a Indiana permit with you. I came in with a permit from Virginia no problem.

I hear all these horror strories about driving scools and se drivers out there that have gone through schools and cant drive for crap. I think that Primes CDL program is one of the best out there and they dont just teach you how to drive they teach you everything you need to know when your starting out as a driver to actually make yourself some decent money.
DirtySideDown Thanks this. -
You're saying that (in many cases) when a driving school gives you just enough experience to get past a DMV examiner, you know everything there is to know about how to drive an 80,000 lb vehicle.

You never stop learning about anything and really your always training whether or not your with a trainer.
-
"you are done trained once you have your CDL." Thats got to be the dumbest thing Ive ever heard.
I did 60k miles and I still wasnt completly "done trained" when I went solo. You are kidding yourself if you think 4 weeks is all you need to: A. Learn to drive a Truck AND B: Everything you need to know to get the job done.
BTW since you seem to know it all... .38/mile is starting flatbed or tanker COMPANY TEAM pay... but if you've already done 60k miles of training, your first pay raise is 20k team miles later... rougly 3-4 weeks into the job.
If anyone in the office is reading this thread... Dont hire the guy from Reelsville, IN -
I was discussing the fine points of sliding the tandems with my trainee yesterday.
He was told by his instructors at his Non-Prime school that they leave that kind of training to the companies that hire him. -
I will say that some of Primes trainers leave something to be desired. What I got was substantially 5 months of what not to do. Thats not to say it didn't have some value, because it definately did. I learned on several occassions to do the exact opposite of what I was being taught. After 45 days out on my own I was asked if I would consider being a trainer. That pretty much spelled out everything. How in the world could I be qualified to train anyone with so little experience? I couldn't, not even close. I told them I was still training myself. I'm sure there are many good trainers out there, but I wasn't lucky enough to get one. I would have loved to have been out for just a couple of weeks with someone who really got it and knew what they were doing, instead of a burnout who didn't care that was just trying to make the extra cash to pay the lease payment.

"Are you kidding? Im still learning myself!"
I waited over a year before accepting the offer... and then only as a trainer. Not an instructor. -
Hi All
Just a quick note. I'm starting training at Prime on July 13th. Can't wait to get started!!! I drove back in the 80's and know it;s a whole new world now starting off from the begining.. I did OTR back than hauling cars. What a nightmare! I'm looking forward to driving again. Don't have any family left so no need for home time will just stay where ever the truck stops if it stops.. I am in hopes I can get someone like U2exit as a trainer. He seems like he knows what he is talking about. All in all I can't wait to live the life on the road again..
Just wanted to say Hi
BTW think he'll last a couple weeks with his opinion on trucking
