Yeah, offer to pay for the tire, at least. Since you're new and he is a small 2 truck carrier, you will at least get on his good side. I'm curious as to what was damaged, the tire or the rim?

Last one I bought cost about $500 but I supplied my own valves and installed myself.

J, how much clearance did that give you between the bottom of tire and the pavement in full lift?

To say thanks and I did offer to pay for the tire, He was really nice about it and said well you learned something today,,

He said hold up traffic if you have to,

. and do your best to not miss your stop next time. He refused to let me pay for the tire . $300.00 dollars,,, and on a hand shake we agreed that I would pay for the next one if it happened again.

I think that was a very fair deal .

He is a cool Guy and great boss and I really like working for him . .

Thank you for responding and being the Professional Driver you are.

Sounds like you have a good boss. IMHO the truck owner is liable for tire, etc.... He takes the gamble or chance in order to make the profit. I understand your point though.

I got my powder train stuck in soft sand, didn't want the boss to know I was stupid enough to try and cross a sand lot, even though there were tracks across it, I got about 3 length's into the field and it sank like a rock. I did not call in I just called a tow truck paid the 250 bucks and went on down the road. A week later I got called into the office and the owner handed me a tow bill and ask me to explain, All I could say was bad choice, he handed a second envelope containing 250 bucks cash. Said it was his responsibility to take care of it, but don't do it again... Sometimes you get surprised.

I did offer to pay for the tire,, $300.00 and he refused, but he is a cool guy and he Gave me a little speech and on a hand shake we decided that I would pay for the next one...I thought that was very fair, I never got to see the damaged tire but he did say that he was surprised that the rim wasn,t damaged also, the tire stayed up, and I did not check the tire after making my delivery to busy unloading and I didn,t even know it was damaged or I would have fessed up before he discovered it, Saturday morning while I was off for the weekend.but its all worked out now . thank you for everything and have a Great Day !
