I have a class a cdl with a #5 restriction which is no tractor/trailer. I drove a truck with a trailer for a my last job but we used pentil hooks and not fifth wheels. How do i get that restriction off my license? some people told me all I needed to do was the walk around with dmv,but dmv says they are not sure. They never had anyone like this ask

Hello DanielN and Welcome to the Site

You would have to take the road test with the tractor trailer at the DMV office, or with a third party tester.
When you took your road test before, you only tested in the tractor, correct? -
no took the test with the trailer I took the combination test and thank you for the welcome
kickin chicken Thanks this. -
Did the tractor have the fifth wheel plate? Why did you not get the endorsement for the trailer? The field test would have required that you park the trailer into either a 45 or 90 degree angle (alley dock) as well as maneuvers before the road test. -
we had pentle hooks not fifth wheel did not have to back up to a dock this was for tree work not truck driving.
