Why would you even want to keep someone so bad? It's your safety record he's damaging. He would of been gone the first or second accident anywhere else.

If he didn't work for you a year, he drew unemployment off his previous company. They go back one year to the two year time frame and start there.

I have heard about “rider programs” that various companies offer to their employees, but I personally have never been involved in a rider program with any company, hence the connection of a waiver associated with such a program never crossed my mind.
Ditto on the first sentence and the last.
It seems that some people are like lambs lead to the slaughter, I hope your first sentence is false but I fear that it’s true to a degree. The rest of your post is music to my ears and you’re playing to the choir.
If I listed all the !*## ups in my twenty years as a driver the list would be quite extensive, let’s just say I’ve done my fair share. I have never been charged for anything either.
This is an excellent question, why would you?
I’ve been an Owner Operator for approximately half of my career, so my life experiences concerning these types of situations is limited. When you own your own, everything is your responsibility.
I’m assuming this must be a reflection of either where you have been, who you have been with or the belief and acceptance of such a perspective, or possibly all the above. In either case I truly hope you get a chance to be around companies and people that do not hold such an attitude.

Well I think it is silly that they take money out of the drivers paycheck. They don't make very much anyway.I mean my husband told me his truck has some safety problems and he works more than he is supposed to. If he gets in a bad accident can I sue the company. Because if you don't drive what they give you you might get fired. At least that is what the dispatcher said. And if you do drive what they give you you might get a big ticket or go to jail. Sometimes I just worry.

sounds like he needs a different job. if something happens the company may get in trouble but he certainly wont get off the hook.

Actually get the information off the dump truck, contact CHP with the info. They will do a report and you can purchase a copy of the report so you can now contact them. Long and short you will end up in small claims and win. The sticker that says "not respomsible for windshields" is just wishful thinking.

Texas is a very different State than most. They have a payday law for the very reason Sparky's wife was concerned. I know for a fact that many Texas employers were deducting wages from employees due for damage to company property. So Texas passed the payday law. So now employers have employees sign a release. But I believe that the amount of deductions should be decided buy the court.
