I agree, .........but some people such as vegetarians for ezzample who make the choice to not eat meat, are for some whacked reason compeled to force this very mindset down every one elses throats no matter how much wasted effeort it takes.
The fender mirror thread would have went maybe one page....until those who drive trucks with mickey mouse mirrors came in telling the rest of us we all should have mickey mouse mirrors. It reminds me of the bazillion laws we have today - the laws are watered down to meet the maximum capabilities of the skills of the weakest people in society.

I didn't take it as being any more than a personal opinion, except one, when it seemed personal. I suppose it's easy to see that I'm a proponent of them. I've had trucks with and without. I did point out that most trucks I've seen without them are 379's. One answered that basically, why would you drill holes in a $125,000 truck. I can buy that logic.
While I've seen some very nice hoods, I prefer the T8/T6, and a number of the aero trucks. I really do have better visibility out of them, and the fender mirrors enhance the visibility, IMO, quite a bit. It looks to me it's between personal preference, and, shall I say, a perceived safety issue.
It's too bad some get their panties all wadded up over things like this. Geez guys, live and let live.
Oh, by the way, I always put my right leg in my pants first. And my dog is faster, smarter, bigger, and better than yours!!

Exactly, just like the new "Texting" ban. There has been a law forever against "Distracted driving" but some people felt that wasn't good enough. So to make them feel better we had to pass a law pointing to one issue. Just like it's already illegal to kill someone. But maybe we should break it down and pass a law where it's illegal to kill someone with a pencil, then another law against using a knife, then another against using your hands ect. It's all in the interest of false security.
Anyone want to take a guess as to why there's less head injuries in Rugby than in the NFL? Because in the NFL they rely on their safety equipment too much. Just like back braces, kevlar gloves/sleeves and yes fender mirrors! Who's going to be more careful, the guy handling steel with no gloves or the guy relying on his safety equipment?

That's truck drivers!

Speaking of mirrors and such; the other day I was admiring a well done up Petercar with humongous exhaust pipes onnit (10 in I think). Driver tells me that those are coming off real soon and going back to 6s. Claimed the biggies required spacing out the mirrors which resulted in him getting 2 tickets because the resulting overall width put him one inch into Overwidth range.
Whatchu think? -
I say do what he likes. But personally, I think big pipes are ugly as sin. I would rather have 2 big mirrors on each fender than those big pipes, especially the bull hauler pipes that turn out like two big donkey ears at the top. As pizzy as this thread has gotten, that should bring out a whole new herd of gripers.
I am amazed as to how worked up and hateful some people get over something as simple as a fender mirror. If I had a 379, W-9, Columbia, or whatever, I would have a fender mounted mirror on each side. That's me. If someone else does not want one, that's fine. But to tell someone on the opposite side of your preference they are stupid, can't drive, or other insulting things, is just stupid. It's no wonder truckers are thought of and treated the way they are. If a simple conversation about mirriors degrades into what this thread has become, how can anyone take anything a trucker says seriously. I hope this thread gets closed and all post removed. -
I think fender mirrors look very nice. On a freightliner cambodia. Trying to be civil and complimentary here. Everyone have a great day!
johnday Thanks this. -
Because helmets and pads are for sissies. They have weak constitutions to begin with and as such are attracted to a sport with protective equipment.

Also, in a rugby tackle, the shoulder makes contact your opponent's hip, where football players often tackle with their hands and heads. (which is less effective as well) Technique is a must in rugby, if your technique is poor, you have "instant correction" in the form of pain. Thankfully this "pain" is nothing that 2 advils and a bud heavy can't cure. -
i agree with all this, its like those wimpy seat belts and air bags, what kind of pansy needs em?
hell i dont even need a brake pedal, i aint no sissy -
You know what, for the first time since may of 2008, i drove a truck with no fender mirrors, for a 25 mile prehire roadtest. Man, it made me less nervous of being next to jersey barriers but im used to using them to watch the lines, so i was a little nervous about that..blah...
johnday Thanks this.
