Beware the surge! But its not as much of a problem hauling gas... food grade is usually a smooth bore though - not that I've ever had that pleasure!
Good luck to ya man!
Ah, finally leaving the big blue screw....

most of our trailers are smooth bore single hole..oh god.
I quit werner. I turned the truck, trailer, fuel card, id, and equipment in last night. Will be charged back for a couple of locks i left in my last truck. If its more than $10 i will be pissed...chinese super crap locks. LOOONG DRIVE to the terminal. i will never work for a company that does not have a terminal near me again. Screw that! Atleast being near gary makes that not such a problem..
Did my road test, passed it, Remember how i was scared because they use 10 speeds? The truck i tested on had a 13..hahaha. Geared a lot different than my truck, so stil ground a few gears....even tried out splitting a few gears, i liked it.
It was a volvo i had to ask how to pop the hood
Did my physical..had to wait in line foreverrrrrrrr at the clinic. I guess this is what its like working for a small company.
Have spent nearly $50 in gas, have to go back to the clinic in hammond right now...got there too late for the respirator certificate last night.

Passed my pulmonary function test, so I guess I'm in. I don't know what we're waiting for now, but the manager is going to call me back on tuesday or wednesday..says ill have to wait til the week after for training in joliet. Bah. I'll hit up the temp agency for a little work next week. No biggie.
I got my paycheck from werner. I cant get my checkstub online because i dont have my last delivered trip number and really do not want to call them for it, but i got $500..and had a $200 advance. So i'lll be able to pay my bills this month, without paying anything weeks late. Great. I was getting worried since i have spent around $150 on switching jobs, not counting lost wages. 400 mile round trip to turn truck in last night, about 600 miles worth of going to gary and hammond repeatedly this week, new shoes, haircut, .... Gets expensive fast, don't it?
I still have a couple of trips that havent been paid out yet, possibly reimbursements, and i have to see how my bond gets distributed...should be about $300. I'm a little worried they might try to do chargebacks for fuel i bought last night after i quit (didnt have enough in the tanks to make it all the way to indy), and the 300 or so out of route miles to take it to the terminal. They *sounded* like they were just going to be happy that it went to a terminal instead of being abandoned, we'll see. Im expecting about a $10 chargeback for some junky chinese padlocks i left in another truck. Then i have 401k coming back, but they cant screw me on that...its not in their hands.
Assuming QC/corico works out, i'll be able to just roll it over into an IRA...
ironhand Thanks this. -
I really hope you gave them back that ever so "useful" tool kit. And don't forget that well made flashlight!!!
-
Good for you Phro! Been following your exodus and am really glad your lane change is smooth! Let us know the status of your next job as it progresses. Why is it that Werner has such a hard time keeping good people. The company is ROCK solid no debt. What gives??
-
Good luck Phrozia! I also have been following your travels... hopefully the new company will be a better fit for you!! or at least less crap more $$$$
-
Good Luck !!!!!!!
Is that Quality Carriers, if so, you'll like it alot better than weiner !!!!! -
Actually the two black torx drivers are awesome, and thats what i lost...too bad, i woulda kept em..
and the air gauge is nice to have..
flashlight? i never had one. thats in that bs kit they try to sell you for $10 now
Thanks.
Smooth? shoulda seen the ride to indy and back. Spent so long dealing with the road test, physical, etc at the new place that it was 9pm eastern by the time i got home....then had to ride the 200 miles to indy...and back....no sleep at all...with my mom with no sleep....ugh!! Got a little scary at the end!
I suspect its both. The "roadtest" was 25 miles of driving with a longtimer in the jumpseat..guy says he came there from schneider (van), and has been there for 7 years, even left and came back (to go to the military). Says its a big improvement, but he did say that they "dont get that many miles". Asked how many i wanted, i said..."well, 2000 a week would be ok", he said i'd like it..So i'm kind of wondering if this guy means we arent getting 4500 miles a week as opposed to 3000..lol.
I think i'll like it.
Yeah, it is, but its actually an affiliated company, not QC themselves. They mostly run food grade loads going in and out of chicagoland. Dispatch is right there at the yard, nice secured facility where i can park my car when im on the road, and the trucks are almost all white volvos that have the owner-op style teeny tiny company logo on the sidebox...but i guess theyre starting to buy some internationals and only letting the long timers like that guy have them. I'll even have the home and cell numbers for dispatch, the big boss, etc...things will actually be fixed when i have issues, without waiting for hours for someone to even know, ....
I think i might move to valparaiso to be closer to work if this works out as well as it seems it will. I sure as hell aint living in gary, lol...jtrnr1951 Thanks this. -

Good luck on the new job. take a look at the westville better then valpo. -
Ex Churchill driver here, if you have two years of experience they are an excellent company to work for, and you do not have to live near Detroit. I was there 3 years and averaged 54k per year. Only reason I am not still there is because I was fired...
