    I know what rig you should play a very little or no part in your decision but Valley runs some pretty nice Volvos. Perhaps someone can do a safety check on them but their equipment always appears to be clean and in good shape.

    my dad works for Holland and he'll retire nicely with his pension at the end of year. Wish I could get in there as a city driver but need the stupid 1 yr experience that I keep running into.:biggrin_25510:

    I didn't ask to be laid -off from a refuse company..home daily and weekends off making more money then average truckers just starting out,...with 4 kids can't afford that huge pay cut and I mean huge pay cut and missing the kids growing up...but I have to do what I have to do so looking for a good company to stick with

    Well it would be cool if you can run local ,but if there isn't a local job you just might have to go otr for a year so you can.

    I know about the family,i have been married for 19 years and have two boys a 15 yr old and a 10 year old .

    But after a year you could maybe find a local job:biggrin_25525:

    I guess my only choice is to use a company to get my seat time so I can find a local job down the road...hate the idea since I'm not a job jumper or that's not my work ethic.

    Sparkyswife- R&J says I'm to far as they want drivers within 1 hr driving distance.

    notarps4me yes USF Holland out of Akron terminal. they are owned by the YRC. yes they took a pay cut but if you invest your money into saving you can retire with nice pension plus they're union.

    sitting here at the TA in North Canton looking at the trucks here and googling their companies not so promising as these companies are stating that 1 to 2 yr experience...going to the road and check them out maybe talk to a person face to face will be better,lol

    ohiomast, check out p,i, and i motor express, out of sharon pa/youngstown ohio area. they are union, get you home on the weekends, pay for ALL medical benefits, and have a decent 401k (7% match, iirc). they will train you if you are close enough, as well. they flatbed and mainly do coils, but i have seen trains and sleds(i think, trains for sure) up around the michigan area, and it seems like that would get you home at least on the weekends, if not more.

    also check out nick strimbu inc, and yourga. also in the same area, also union benefits(free blue cross blue shield) and good retirements.

    I called those companies today...ugh I live outside the 1 hr ( 30 miles) mark from thier company...
    what the frick...getting so mad...couldn't find Class B job so upgraded to Class A now hiting all these road blocks with needing experience.
    My face is staring to hurt from all the doors being slammed,lol

    are you kidding? p i and i wont take you if you are more than 30 miles from their yard? they were looking for regional dedicated drivers over here in buffalo a month ago, and you would NEVER be at their terminal! if i had coil experience i would have already been there, but they wouldn't let me come down for their training class! that sucks!


    btw, don't go to lj kennedy, over in aliquippa pa, im there now, and take my advice, they suck! friendly company, but the equipment is falling apart, and there is very little freight for us!

    have you tried Birkshire trucking over by the ohio/penn border on 90? they have a trailer up on the side of the road advertising, dont they?
