Hay thanks Higgie. Keep the info coming we appreciate it.
I have another question. Do you have to stick with your routing or can you chose to route down a different highway. For example if taking another route will take you 50-100 miles out of your route plan will they have a problem with that?
Also can you tell me how often you might make it through Utah?
Thanks again Higgie.

We have a lot of west coast freight, how often depends on u. I ask to stay east during the winter. Just really depends on u as far as I know.
There is no routing at this time. Could change but none now. As of now u get ur pick up location and ur delivery location. The rest is up to you. No babysitting and hand holding. -
Thanks Higgie. When you were set up with a trainer did they run you as a team or did you run as a solo? I don't think I could sleep in a moving truck. That would make me sick.

I never had a trainer. Did a ride along out to Allentown to pick up my trk but that's the only time I was with someone else.

You must have had prior trucking experiance before starting. I'll probably have a lot of questions for you. Just trying to find out as much as I can. Please be patient with me.
They told me I will take the truck home which is no problem. I have two and a half acres. I would assume that I would have to wait until I get a delivery close to home such as Salt Lake or Provo then I could head home. I'm about 80 miles from Salt Lake. Do they require you to pay the fuel to get you home?
Do you stay busy in the winter months? I talked to a LTL driver. He said it slows way down in January through March even through April sometimes. He said January and February were the slowest months.
One of the recruiters told me a little about the pay. I understand the CPM but the extra pay such as layover, detention, loading and unloading I'm not to clear about. The recruiter told me something about an 8 hour rule before you get layover pay. Also she said something about $12. for detention after two hours, another $12. after the third hour. Do they pay $12. For each hour until you get unloaded? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Higgie. -
The detention honestly I have never worried much about. Only a couple of time have I been stuck some place. I sent in the required messages and never thought about again. If it was a constant issue I would be more on top of it.
I live 35 miles north of the Irving terminal. 99% of my loads home go there. So I just BT from there to the house, I live out in the country so its no issue. I also have a TA 4 miles from the house so if I get anything passing through DFW I will push it to get there so I can steal a night at home.
As far as the winter months. Yes there was a little slow down, not to bad. Its typical really, every place I have worked was the same way. I just stayed on them and I kept rolling. Granted me being a hard ### probably kept another driver from getting as many miles but at the same time its really how every month is. Those who want to run hard make the money, those who don't run hard are the ones who complain about their paychecks. I said it b4 I run hard. If I'm going to be out here I'm gonna make the most of it. -

I'm sure they know your personality. They know you will get the job done so they throw you as many miles as you can take or want. If your out there you might as well make the best of it. Good job!
Another question, do they have the trucks set up with fridge and microwaves? Do you have to purchase your own inverter? And if so how big of inverter will they allow?
Thanks Higgie, sounds like a good place to work for so far. -
The trks aren't set up for those. I had all that in my freightliner but when I switched to the KW I lost a lot of room. Since there is no top bunk in these. So I downsized a lot. I did build a top bunk/shelf in here to store a few things.
The inverter is something u have to buy. Up to 1500 Watts is allowed.
