we are seeing more and more of these types of wrecks...has both my husband and myself looking over our shoulders more than normal...esp. when stopped in traffic...how sad....

It all boils down to the third driver was following too close and didn't give himself enough following distance, I see it all the time, Billy Bob truckdriver playing NASCAR out there, three to five trucks all less than 10 feet from the back of each other's D.O.T. bumper. I just shake my head and laugh, because all it takes is one split second and it will be a rolling domino effect accident. Everyone's always in a hurry to die.

That's why I never stop on the side of the interstate unless I break down. Too many stop just to go to the bathroom or check a tire. The slow merge just creates too many conflicts. Go up a ramp, pull in a rest area or stop at a truck stop if you have to stop. The shoulder is for break downs only.
I see drivers stop at the bottom of a hill on the shoulder? Use your head and stop at the top of a hill if you must.
The third truck driver either was tailgating or not paying attention. Maybe both.
The one coming off the shoulder should of waited too. His stupidity killed someone. -
I have several videos posted on YouTube of this very behavior........and tailgating cars at freeway speeds. You should see some of the names I am called, and comments left by "alleged" truck drivers...

Do you have the link to your videos? -
This also boils down to driving at night. More accidents happen at night. You want to do it? Go right ahead, but personally I am parking it.
