Funny my first solo run was to Sam's club in Dayton. They told me parking there was no problem! That was back in March. Did a 10 hr break there.

I've parked there as well, back when the Ryan's was still open, I used to meet my family for dinner all the time. The signs from Sandy's towing are there, though. Sam's has more outside carriers coming in than a Walmart, so maybe Sandy's patrols it less. I wouldn't leave it there unattended.
By the way, since the Ryan's closed, I now park over at the Arby's on I70 exit 21, the Brookville exit. You can park there or the McDonald's. If you walk over to the Speedway station on the corner, and walk about a block or two south, it's not far at all, there is a great all you can eat buffet called Bill's Cafeteria. Definitely worth the half mile walk.HFC Thanks this. -
Would that be the Target there? I live nearby in Yorba Linda and am familiar with that store...

I'm appalled that you have to even ask WHY? take a good long look at your fellow truckers..look at the truckstops and rest area's. now think about your fellow idiot that dumped 11 gallon's of used oil and his filters on the parking lot after buying the decently priced oil wal-mart sold him in Alabama. Once again we are at fault, either by action or in-action, and yes I include myself in this, i've seen thing's and just shook my head, other time's i've said somthing only to be told go &%$# yourself. so I ask, what do we as a group do? I don't blame Wal-mart or any other chain, I blame us, and so should each of you.

I read this thread and decided to send a letter to customer service and this was their response.
Thank you for your message.
Dear Pat,
Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your inquiry. While we do not offer electrical service or accommodations typically necessary for RV customers, Walmart values RV travelers and truck drivers and considers them among our best customers. Consequently, we do permit RV and tractor-trailer parking on our store lots, as we are able. Permission to park is decided by individual store managers, based on availability of parking space and local laws.
Please contact management at each store to ensure accommodations. To find specific store information such as the address, you may purchase a special Walmart edition of the Rand-McNally Road Atlas in our stores that includes Walmart/Sam's Club locations in the US, Mexico and Canada. The cover says "Walmart Store Directory Included." If you cannot locate this special edition, contact a store associate or ask for assistance at the Customer Courtesy Desk. For our most current store information, including the store phone number, please visit our web site at www.walmartstores.com and select 'store finder' at the bottom of the page. You may search by city/state or zip code and view a map and directions to each store.
Sincerely,
Walmart Customer Care -
As stated in this thread the bars are there because the parking lots can not handle the weight of big trucks. Every Walmart I have gone to has docks and room around the back. When I get to a Walmart the 1st thing I do is go inside and ask to speak to a manger and ask if I can park there even if just shopping, and if I am planning to stay for my break I ask if it is alright to stay for 10 or so hours. I have never been disrespected doing this, I have been informed by some that city ordinance will not allow a extended stay and they usually tell me where a truckstop is or a rest area. I leave my truck at a Walmart when I visit my kids for a few days and every time I go and ask the manger and it has never been a problem. I know they don't have to let me park there, and I do appreciate them letting me so I do as much shopping there as possible.
