1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

A lot will depend also on what area of the country you are in. If your in a good freight lane it can be much easier than if your in a bad area. Just have to beat down doors and remember you never lose till you quit.

Congrats on the job!! I myself have a DUI on my record and some old speeding tickets that dont count unless they run my DAT. I am working and have come across two others that would like to hire me. We who work for small companies knocked on doors and looked around lots of work. If you want to drive and have experience someone will most likely hire you. Ask around look in phonebook search the Internet take names on trucks you see they are out there!!! The guy I am driven for has two trucks he a OP. The other company thats interested in me has 12 trucks. I am keeping the job I have for now. I am only out three to four days a week and make a good paycheck. Keep trying they are out there.
P.S. I had to relocate to Maine where I grew up had a hard time in FL had a few offers but nothing I would consider good luck searching and keep it between the lines!

That's great that you found some place to hire you, but from personal experience I can say that it's not always that easy to find a company to give you a shot if you don't have recent experience.

Been a hair over three years since I pulled a trailer and about seven-ish since I had to shift gears. Talked with dozens of companies. So far have only had one willing to talk to me and they were not willing to give me the time to get the feel of driving a truck back.

I'm to the point where I would be calling Swift if I was in a position where I could be gone from home that long, or would be buying a job by getting my own truck if I could come up with a few thousand dollars more than I have. Still not going to stop trying, and I'll get a few more apps out this week to try and make something happen.

Hey Ohiomast, don't wait too long! Most companies are only going to give you a few weeks before sending you back to school for a refresher course. I would hate to see that happen to you. Wasn't sure if Nick Strimbu is a trucking company?
