Going Flatbedding need info please?

Just a FYI.. Maveric has a glass division (They bought out SNI remember?) My brother in law does this and seems to like it.. Tarping glass isn't that hard, not if my 400lb brother in law can do it!!

 

Strap and chains in the headache rack are not doing anything. Use them, all I say.
Loads of pipe, wrap 2 chains around the load going to opposite sides and it will stay together and put all the rest of your chains on it as tight as you can get them.
NO ONE will ever say anything about too many chains but they will whisper about it at your funeral if you didnt.

 

Most of the pre loaded/tarped loads at USG Michigan are good. Just need to watch USG some of them are bad depends on the shift loading them. Atlas tube in Plymouth and Chicago Have been great. no problems at all. just check the pre/tarped out. Most of the places i have been know what to do and do it to help the driver.

 

I personally, would prefer Flat bed work over van, for the higher responsibility, it would ask of me. Thank for the info!!

 

Thats one of the reasons i like it. And it's just in my blood i'm a flatbeder it's what i do.

 

Heres a question, I used to run LTL flatbed, and I would throw the tarps, secure them, then throw straps over the tarps. whats the best way to do it, strap it then tarp it, or tarp it then strap it? or is it just personel pref?

 

Never liked to strap over the tarp except for one over the center where the tarps overlap because I was afraid the strap would cut through the tarp.

 

Out of those said companies which is the best to start at flatbedding? How is TMC with there employees? I like the equipment but you can have the nicest truck and make crap and get treated like crap and end up hating your life. Just some more info on the companies would be awesome!

 

I secure the load first. Then tarp it. Then put 1-2 straps over the tarp/load incase the tarp would come loose and want to come off. Thats the way i was tought to do it. Works well.

 

I don't like strapping over my tarps. you burn the tarp tighting the strap and caouse weak spot in the fabric
