24,000 I believe. I didn't ask how many I had, was only told I was about 2,000 short last week when in Dallas, so I had to get them done.

Not that I remember or heard. General health and such, yes. BP and heart is seemingly highest concerns.

Just curious if any currently employed solo's at Steven's Transport can give me a run down of how they are doing milage wise and pay wise. I just got off the phone with a recruiter and got a OK to come in.
Now I have 12 yrs OTR driving. The pay that was quoted was good (.40cpm) compared to other offers I have had over the last two weeks. I am working now so I am in no hurry to jump ship just yet. I am kinda feeling the waters out. However I am curious that with my experience and no accidents or tickets and almost with over a million driving miles under my belt, why in the world was I told I would have spend three weeks with a trainer? The recruiter said company policy. But they gotta be the only company doing this, and it didnt make sense. She almost had me sold up until that point. Now I am working locally but I have only been off OTR for 15 months. So i dont see what the problem is. Every other company that I have prehires from it is go to orientation and get in a truck and roll. So what is the deal with Steven's? I am holding out for an offer from Crete, but the few guys from Stevens that I have talked to that were experienced drivers like the company and their job. The ones that were complaining have been (that I talked to personally)students or guys fresh off training program. But I dont put much in what newbies have to say because they really dont have the experience to say it is good or bad because it is a lifestyle adjustment when you first start. But how about any guys on here with 5 yrs or more OTR that are currently working or recently quit. Like within the last 18 months....give me a little feedback please. Thanks for your time:biggrin_25525:

Hello all, I am a former Stevens driver, Trainer, Yard instuctor, school instructor, and (gulp), safety supervisor. For the past 3 years I have been an owner operator hauling broadway shows for Clark Transfer. Check out our website. First the good news. We rarely run hard, get paid every minute we wait, and get treated with respect by our customers. The bad news is we don't get home as much as most drivers do, especially if we are on tour with a show. I will be selling my 2001 volvo this august and am willing to take a chance on a good driver. I will finance the truck and help you join our small fleet. If interested you can contact me here or my email is rainmanjwalker@yahoo.com Good luck to you all, I have been right where you are now.

When I had my 2 year physical in may, there is a BMI chart on the wall, and the nurse did check it, and mark my BMI on the chart for the doctor. I am 5'10" and 200 lbs, so no problems for me. What they actually do with it I do not know.

aww come on now, bring it to Ohio, and I will take it to Cheyenne. LOL

I honestly think there is a unwritten rule in trucking, do not give the driver loads that go any where close to home, until he begs to go home.

In ohio today, deliver in chicago in the morning, going to drive in early to beat the traffic.

    Scars on the body.

You get sick or injured, and they request your medical history from other doctors, hospitals.

I Only have 2 1/2 years with Stevens ....It is your 15 months local that means you will have to go out for retraining, Stevens policies... Stevens has lots of policies, regardless of how much experience you have.

I would get that 40 cents per mile verified.

my paid miles for this year,
    first quarter 33,326 miles
    Second quarter 29,447 miles

    Stevens pays shortest route miles.

Make your own decision but their is the Avery under company DAC reports, and my thread a year in review that I talk about my weekly experiences with stevens.

As TL said, there are lots of rules. You want to drive through the night?, you have to call and get a safety talk. It is a training company, 3 months OTR or 15 years OTR, you will have a baby sitter that assumes you are stupid and can't think for yourself. With your experience I have a hard time seeing you being happy at Stevens.

I started driving in 1972. Took some breaks here and there, but have more than 2.5MM accident and ticket free miles. Retired in '07, then came back this year. I too had to go thru the training. I learned a lot. It was worth my time.
I've averaged more than 2800 miles per week since going solo.
And yes, I like my job.
