Congrats! Is it a true offer to hire or is a pre hire offer? It is very hard to get a job driving a truck with felonies, but it can be done. The more years between the end of your time (jail, probation, parole) the better. Good luck to you!

I hear ya... min eis from 1990 and I am having trouble with it.

20 years ago, it must be pretty horrific to still be causing you problems.
If you were not put to death, you still have a chance, just have to find the right company.
Not all companies will check back that far, some do NOT even check anything. These are the companies that you need to find.
Granted Lowes and Home Depot do a pretty good background check. But your nearby Bills Barn Parts, may only care about your driving record !!!!!
So, you need to beat the bushes, knock on alot of doors, and think positive. Folks with records like yours find jobs every day.
You can most likely skip Brinks, Wells Fargo, but that leaves thousands of other companies. And one, just one, has your name on it !!!!!! -
I think this is wrong for our society to reject people for something like this. Heck, before computers nobody would even know. Right now if you have a criminal record it's really tough because companies can be so selective. I have a clear criminal record, but I have bad credit. I paid faithfully on my credit cards for 10 years and never missed a payment. Lost a job and the rates shot up to 30%, and it became an unmanageable situation. Yes, it's my fault, but I don't think your past history should disqualify you from getting a job because of a drug charge 15 years ago or because you have bad credit. At this point I wouldn't mind going back to a much simplier life where there isn't this information overload on everybody. The only people who can do anything anonymously anymore are illegal Mexicans. Maybe that's why they like it here so much.rayodeluz Thanks this.

Endzone, your story is similar to mine. I have no criminal record, but my credit is shot right now. I did file a bankruptcy in 1992, and then built my credit over the years to where it was very good again. Had credit cards that I paid off every month, and no debts except for a car loan. Then about 9 - 10 years ago my and countless other people's jobs were sent overseas. IT came to the point to either take a cash advance or starve, so I ended up in troucle again. It really ###### me off because I tried to do the right thing (go to school, work hard, pay debts, etc.) only to find it increasingly impossible to make a decent living. I know some companies do credit checks before hiring, and for certain occupations (accounting for one). Has you credit hurt you in finding employment? If so, then it's really getting to the point where there's no use in trying anymore

Buy your own truck, get your own authority and see what happens, get your own loads.

That may seem like a blessing now, but PTL has went way down from what they once were. I hope you do well. If this is your only option I would proceed, but I would not go in with high hopes. You are liable to be disappointed.

I do disagree with a credit report as part of the hiring process and I even let the boss know it wasn't right. He would say the company needs to know if the person is trustworthy and I told him there's thousand of people that are trustworthy and have a hits on their credit history. It's real hard for yound couples to get by and when they have kids it's gets even harder. And how about the young military person that's depending on their low pay and living out in town. Some are forced to live in town because there's no housing. So this person could be in a very high security job but have hits on their credit history and a company is going to say they are not trustworthy. No it's not right in my book.
rayodeluz Thanks this.
