Because he's happy des not mean he's not getting taken advantage of. Thats why it's called a confidence game, if you don't trust them they can not take advantage of your get rich quick frame of mind. And yes someone is getting rich quick but it's not the driver. For instance below I will list my loads for the start of the week and it will clearly show 50 cpm is not what a owner operator should be making.
I have averaged 68.91 cents per mile and I don't own or lease the truck, I have medical, dental, vacation, sick days, retirement program with matching funds, ets... It is non hazardous, just drive the truck kind of a job. And believe me there are plenty others here on the board that make similar or more. The only reason I listed this is to show the newbies not to fall for the fleece.... It's only good for the lessor.
Monday
Mojave to Mesquite 332 miles Pays $174.00 (52.4 cpm to the driver).
Mesquite to Los Angeles 335 miles Pays $166.00(49.5 cpm to the driver).
Monday/Tuesday
Mojave to Provo 568 Miles Pays $425.00 (74.8 cpm includes deadhead back to Mesquite, to the driver)
Wednesday
Mesquite to Los Angeles 335 miles Pays $166.00(49.5 cpm to the driver).
1570 miles Gross pay to driver 1082.00 average of 68.91 cpm. I'm a company driver why would I want to go down to 50 cpm and become a lease driver and take on the added responsibility, cost and the loss of vacation, medical, workman's comp, Truck Maintenance etc...

That why i was asking these questions. I seen on there site says the driver make $1.18 per mile? I have never leased before. I have always been a company driver. But have thought that maybe i would try it.
Then when the economy comes back i could make some really good money. And be a step ahead.
Is there anymore Mav IC leasers on here? Hows it for you?
Thanks
Don -
I would like to know who he drives for as a company driver? I can bet he's union or something very limited. I know of no company paying there drivers that much. So put up the goods driver. I dont get screwed over here no matter what you think. I make good money. Rates are goin up freight is goin up with forecasts of continued growth thru 2011. I know my numbers and watch my bottom line. Thats what bein your own boss is about. The only people who try to trash talk leases are those who have never done it or tried it and failed for lack of business sense. While I wouldnt recommend Prime Inc's lease due to the exorbitant costs I could make money doin it because Im a business man. Thats why I like the lease here, its affordable, fair and you make good money. I am home 98% of my weekends and still do well. The difference between me and you is Im not b.s.'n anybody. So put up or shut up driver.

Do they have company trucks with straight 10s in them or are they all autos?
-
I guess in modern Obama America, it is now a sin for amtrucking company to earn a profit on the backs of lease operaters. Geese, I am sick and tired of this. Are there leases that are impossible to successfully complete as the lessee? Yes. Are there leases that have low fixed costs that still profit both the lessee and the lessor? Yes. Powder Joints, you seem to have a problem with Maverick makings dime off it's lessees backs. You say you drive a company truck and make a great wage. If your company is paying you that much, it would probably sicken you to see how much they are profiting off your labor. They must have some sweet contracts. Just know, using your logic, you are being taken advantage if too. Companies don't exist to employ people. Companies exist to make a profit. There is nothing evil about making a profit.

I may have mixed you up. I seen on mavericks site there lease drivers get $1.18 per mile not company drivers. Is maverick one of the best to lease from? Is there any cost upfront to leasing with them? What kind of bloom payment do they have at the end? I'm really thanking of going that route when i get back on the road.

Dieseldon Im currently busy but once I get a free moment I'll give you a detailed answer

How many miles a week are you all running at Maverick? It is up between TMC and Maverick for me I just want to know how many miles I can anticipate per week.
-
Since the new CSA rules are coming soon Maverick is getting pretty hardcore about logging legal so Im averaging about 2500 miles a week now. Dieseldon there is NO money out of your pocket up front. The $1.18 figure on their website is old and Im not sure how they are getting that figure so I wont try to guess. What I can do is tell you what Im averaging per mile deadhead and loaded and thats been about $1.45 a mile here the last couple months. If you start a lease with them they will finance your flatbed equipment for you also unless you have your own. The prices are competitive with truckstops and you have the option of buying used for half the cost, which I highly recommend as most used equipment is in good to like new condition. Your fixed, non flucuating costs, average $500 a week then they take 12% of the linehaul for a maintenance account(this usually averages about .13cpm),new leases also have a bond escrow of $2000 taken in increments of 5% of the linehaul(it generally takes 2-3 months to get the full $2000 built up then they quit taking that 5%),then the only thing left is your fuel. The freightliners they lease can achieve 7mpg pretty easily but lets say for the sake of argument your getting 6.5mpg then diesel that cost 2.90/gal would cost .446 cpm. Still with me? So lets run some numbers. 2500 miles x 1.45= $3625-$500 fixed=$3125 - $325 maintence escrow(.13 x 2500)= $2800 - $1115 fuel(.446 x 2500) = $1685. Now if you finance your equipment that runs around $60/wk til paid off so that knocks you down to $1625 and til you get the bond escrow paid up thats approx .055 cpm, so that knocks you down to $1487.50 divided by 2500 miles that gives you a net estmated profit of .595cpm. Remember the bond and your equipment financing are temporary so that will be profit in the future. Im not bs'n any at all about these numbers, are they this good everyweek? No. But they are also higher some weeks. This is just an average of what Im getting right now. If you have good motivation and can watch your bottom line then this will be great for you. Let me also state you could also hire in ad a company driver for a few months, get settled into Maverick and then make your decision. Their company driver pay is one of the better paying flatbed compensation out there. Anyway I really hope this helps ya a little bit. -- Missouri Kid
alex94, The Challenger, " OPTIMUS PRIME " and 2 others Thank this. -
PS to the driver lookin into TMC I seriously wouldnt. They are deep deep in red ink. All their prepasses have been takin out of their trucks and they are playing around with drivers checks. We have gotten quite a few TMC drivers over here past several months. Also dont forget Macerick just recently got into the reefer business. I know zip about that side though. We also do heavy haul/glass.
The Challenger and alex94 Thank this.
