well if you only have a 64 mph truck then stay out of my left lane so i dont run over you.
-
Well, the 64mph guys get in the way of the 67mph guys and you all of you get in the way of the 72mph guys, etc etc. It seems to me the 61mph driver has the least stress out of all of us. I always let the fast guys go, I will pull into the truck stop just a few minutes after them.

I see they have their safety rating up to where it was in 2008 !!!!!!
Just above terrible, it will be their downfall, and all those fines that go to the drivers-PER VIOLATION !!!! -
The same crap we heard in 1985 with the much vaunted CDL. Whatever
-
CSA2010 will cause a change in the way drivers operate now that every driver will havea 'personal' record at the DOT.
trucker43 Thanks this. -
We were there two years ago and they had begun really tightening down on everyone. There wasn't much you could get away with there. I forget her name but the red headed lady that runs the log dept. is good! I don't know if she went to college for log books or what! Really nice lady but don't try to fool her! She knows her stuff!

Well said, I have uncles that have been driving for over 30 years and a cousin that still does, I myself have only been doing it for 3 years and I'm 51 years young but in that time I have learned two things, Don't complain about a load and if you do be ready to slow down unless it is a legitiment complaint, and dont complain about having to run so hard thats what we get paid to do. If you thought that getting into a truck was supposed to be easier than any other job you are sadley mistaken. This is a milage based business for the most part unless your lucky enough to get percentage loads. Not many companies offer that and they are few and far between, also do those companies actually show you what the actuall pay is for that load or are you hoping that the percentage your gettimng is right and their being honest. So with that being said, Milage based business means just that If you run your tail off you'll make good money, but your not going to get rich. In all Self own business's there is good and bad , there are sacrifices that have to be made Family, money, payments, risk, breakdowns, slow times... it's just the nature of the beast. I recently have been investigating JCT to see if they are a good company to work for. I currently work for a company where I get to be home every weekend and I average about 650 to 700 a week clear, but I want more... most would say HUH ???? because I get both home time and money, But like everyone I want to try and make more money to take better care of my family and I am always looking at different avenues JCT being one of them. I have heard that landstar is ok but you have to already have a TRUCK AND YOU CAN PICK WHEN TO RUN AND FOR THE MOST PART WHERE. sorry for the caps..., All I see are one sided stories about JCT and how bad they are, now ask yourself this question, DID you do everything you had to do , to be the best at what your doing and if the answer is no then you know why your where your at, if the answer is yes then maybe you had to try harder, sometimes we think we're doing the best when actually we're doing enough to get by. In the Military you have no choice but to be at the disposal of them at any time and all times, Sounds to me that JCT works on almost the same princible but to an extent you have the final say where in Military you dont. Wanna work hard or you wanna take it easy, the ones that shine are the ones that make the $$$$ and the ones that gripe are the ones that get pissy and complain about how bad it is.... anyway hope this enlightens you on what trucking is really about.
P.S. I am not fond of running illegally on my logs but I have stretched the truth on occasion but not much. CSA 2010 will straighten out those who do run illegal and then everyone will be legal even JCT, The DOT is doing what ever it takes to make sure of that and as a result will do one of two things, They'll put trucking to a stop or companies will have to start paying a bit more to the driver to compinsate for the time lost on driving, or go out of business... there's just no other way aroud it.Last edited: Jul 19, 2010
