Never had a problem like that with a WalMart DC. Granted every once in awhile I've had a day layover waiting for an appointment, but generally that's not been the case. My carrier does a reasonably good job getting appointments scheduled, and am out of the place in 3 to 4 hours max. It might be YOUR carrier is running your schedules out longer...

Its not the appt time that is the problem, I am there 30 to 90 minutes before appt. confirmed by the WM-008 sheet that they give you, so it cant be the carrier. Hell I even bring in their $50 comcheck before they even start unloading and im still stuck there for 6 to 7 hours.
But that other driver with the ice cream, what other reason could it be that walmart employees came out every couple hours for 2 days to check the temps on the ice cream with the doors wide open in the dock? He was 20 minutes before appt. Not to mention the trailers that are labeled "storage" is enough to show that they lack space. I have also heard that they use carriers trailers for storage then try to charge the carrier for leaving their trailer there. We dont drop trailers there so I cant confirm that one. -
We have dis sekrit wepin... "D-E-T-E-N-T-I-O-N"
Wally and his minions don't like paying it! -
well... $240 a night temporary driver storage (detention) vs. $240,000 to expand their facility.
Thats why I dont think they mind paying it at $30 - $40 /hr -
I know what waiting is all about. Try running steel the mills and auto plants make the drivers wait hours up to days to get loaded/unloaded. I will give the operators xxx books and cans of pop most of the time you can get loaded/unloaded that way. With steel you don't get detention pay it's straight %. Just got to set and wait.

Why should you have to pay or bribe somebody to off load THEIR PRODUCT ?
Either they want or or not. They don't want it, sign the bills refused and then take it back to the shipper and drop it there. No fuss no muss.
That's what I like about heavy hauling, They want their product and they do get billed Det.
I'm on a local project now. Only scheduled for 2 loads this week, but they have to pay me for the other 3 days I'm not working.
If I work Sat. I get extra pay. -
True, its a scam - but it gets you in and out of the dock and you're not waiting all day. Consider the area... Philidelphia PA is the most corrupt city on the continent. They have Chicago totally beat in this department.

How come you don't have to go to Jersey and I do?
