Semi-Truck Drivers are Not Always the Bad Guy on the Road

That's one of my pet peeves, when someone is merging onto a highway, expects you to move over for them.

 

Their ramp has a YIELD sign not your lane.

Not a bad article, as well as the posts. Only one thing I disagree with is passing MORE laws. Come on LEO, just enforce the ones we have as is, and in all reality, yapping on a phone/texting is distracted driving. I think just about all states have a law against that [distracted driving]. Why should LEO have to specifically be told to enforce an existing part of a law. Oh, I know why after all, because unfortunately even non thinking has invaded the LEO's. BTW, I DO support LEO, even the nonthinking ones.

The yield signs on the on the onramps in many states were taken down many years ago. The few states in the Northeast, as an example, that still have them, work sometimes. But then again, why is a sign needed when common sense should prevail? Crap, I dunno!

 

I have often considered what it might be like to have my own trailer with a changeable message board on the back. In the cab, I'd have a control panel with a series of "canned" messages that could be pulled up with the touch of a button:

"Learn to merge"
"Get off the bleepin' phone"
"The 'Yield' sign is for YOUR lane"
"Yeah, I saw you. I just don't care any more than YOU do!"

Plus, of course, a keyboard for typing in any message that would be appropriate at the time (yeah, I know that one is particularly unsafe, but remember...this is a dream sequence!).

 

Not only does the traffic merging need to learn how to do so, but the drivers on the highway need to understand also. Too many times I've had the vehicle in front of me on the interstate nearly come to a stop so the traffic can get on the highway from the on ramp.
