Sorry, I don't have a loaner ECM for the Acert........I'll be honest they're too expensive new and I haven't been able to find a used one to reprogram.

If you don't want the full 725 Hp of a stage 1 , my suggestion would be to stay with a Stage 1 with the same Personality Module Code you have now. You would be less horsepower than the 725Hp, you'll get a better fuel mileage increase than the 725 Hp file, plus you'd have the benifit of the flash being hidden from any CAT dealer that would plug into the ECM at a later date for service.
The liner protrusion issue and head gasket.............run the truck until it becomes a problem. You will start pushing a small amount of water out the over flow tube on the radiator. When you have to continuely add water to the cooling system to keep it up..........then you may have an issue. -
that sounds like a great idea that's what I was looking for, I wanna be around 600 more or less is not so important..I'm gonna give ya a call this week or next to see if we can work things out for a tune..

Mr Haney, you mentioned a "personality profile". I've never heard of that. But, I'm no expert either. I'm curious what that is or means. My Cat program is a 550 brake saver. What would that mean with a stage 1 tune? My original factory tune was a 475/1650. Also, which manifold do you suggest - PDI, Full Tilt, PP? Stock, ported or extrude honed? Thanks in advance!

Im running the pdi stage 1 ecm and i like it. Mines a 6nz that was rated at 475hp. They tuned it for the stock turbo which im still running. It did make a noticeable difference but i wouldnt believe all you hear about the fuel mileage going up. Maybe some others that have ran it went up but mine actually dropped a little bit. Mine was getting 6 or so before the ecm and now its getting around 5.5 maybe on a good day. We haul grain and are always weighing around 80000LBS. If i were you i would suggest running there turbo to which i would like to have sometime cause your exhaust temps can get pretty hot taking off but once you get going they stay pretty low. Not bad mouthing pdi just giving my expierence with the ecm. Overall though you will get a noticeable difference from the ecm. My boost went up 5lbs or so and they raise the fuel pressure also. Sorry for the long post

Personality Module Code.......it's also know as a Interlock Code. This code is listed in the Configuration Files with System Settings and FLS/FTS Codes in the ECM.
This Code stops people from flashing files into the ECM without factory passwords.......the only time you can flash without the passwords is if the PMC, IC of the new flash file you are flashing into the ECM, match the PMC, IC stored in the ECM. This only allows the mechanic to flash a newer version of the same file into the ECM.
PDI is writing their different files with the different PMC/IC. A C-15 550 hp has a PMC/IC of 148. A C-16 600 hp Brakesaver 2300RPM file has a PMC/IC of 161. If you would flash the C-15 engine with the C-16 file.........you would have a large power gain, but you would need the passwords to do this. If you want the big power gain you would use the modified 161 file.........if you want economy........you'd use the 148 file that's been modified. What's nice is if you stayed with the PMC/IC that in your ECM now...........nobody would know that it's a modified file......this is how they hide them. The reason the 161 PMC/IC file has a bigger power gain over the 148 is the fact that the original 161 file has more fuel in it before it was modified.
I don't know if I can explain it any better than that without showing you the CAT ET program what I'm talking about while hooked up to the ECM. -
Thanks for the info. BTW, what ECM would you like to buy, MXS, BXS,NXS? I'll keep an eye out for a cheap one for you.
