I have a freightliner century class, engine fan is on all the time. Dash showing active fault " ac controller no response ". This used to happen everytime i get engine washed. I am suspecting ac apads gone bad.Because ac wont turn on. Should i change high pressure switch prior to replacing apads. Help is appericiated in advance. Please advice.
Engine fan always on

It might be something as simple as a electrical plug being loose, or a frayed and worn wire grounding out, you might not actually need to replace the sensor.

High/Low pressure for the AC is bad

If you have the APADS I am thinking of then it is a small separate box somewhere under the hood with a red and green LED light on it. I know they can trip up faults pretty easily. You can reset them by cycling the key off and on 4 times real quick. Give that a try.

I do have apads, but unfortunately no lights. I know index puts lights on their apads. but not on this one. The reason i was thinking apad bad was this always happened when i got engine washed. And apads have a life of about 5 years ( as per mfg). This one is pretty old.

you need a retrofit kit to do away with that system. i have attached service bulletin for the installation. part number is 681 831 00 K0
