That's my last one. I spent another 5 hours delivering at the distributor. Three of us there from AB St Louis. He found it neccessary to empty the two dropped trailers first before he started on us. He got the first truck empty and his forklift batteries went dead. I said why don't you use that other forklift. He said the batteries are dead on it too. I was a smart ### and told him to start hooking them up when you go home, lol. I was already in my 4th hour and didn't care anymore. He got mad and got me empty then. I spent the past two days with a broken tooth and extreme pain. I finally made it to the dentist at Walcott after numerous delays.

The breweries have changed since the 1970s when drivers could get a cup of beer in the Stroh break room in Detroit.
From 1985-1998, I drove for a beer distributor. The waiting was boring, but every trip was a round trip and I liked the job better than driving irregular route. If I arrived at the distributor at night, I unloaded barrels into the cooler. My job was eliminated when AB went with core carriers. I am surprised core carriers and interim warehouses are not covering all of the peak season loads. -
truckerdave1970 Thanks this.

Big Rigger got it right. I was just ranting. I can out wait the best of them with a well stocked truck and over 200 DVD's. I get paid good on detention. I had one detention last pay period that paid me $50 for an hour. Usually it's $10-20/hr. That's not bad money if you think about it.
Sometimes I'll bust their bubble on purpose. They get mad and make you wait more. I sleep and get paid for it, lol.CntrySngr Thanks this. -
Thats just the sad thing out drivers and dock hands, you nark one off they wont unload you... but if you get paid and you know theres no work for you after.. then go for it.
Ive just found being polite; and cheerful can go along way, and if it hits lunch time, I just pull out my lunch(after getting everything ready, and have a nice chat with them as well (this helps if you know you going to be there a few times a week, so they get to remember your face) -
