It may have changed but when i took in 2008 IT was a strait back a pull through, a stop test, and 45 degree back. The pre-trip for mn is criminal I think. All it is is the one minute air loss, and then showing and identify all the air break systems on the truck. Only other thing is to make sure you tell them all the problems that could be with those systems. Oh and then of course the standard road test. The whole thing takes about 10 to 15 minutes to do.

ok I actually do have my cdl just havent taken the airbrakes portion of the test. I still have the permit however so I think im ahead just a little nervous of only getting one shot at passing the test. The only other thing I guess would I have to do the backing tests again

well you are able to take the test without airbrakes/ I used a{F350/dump trailer 26800} just for the landscaping company I worked for. They didnt have a vehical with airbrakes. I can still go and get that portion as I still have that permit with me. The only part that was different was there was no walk around since there were no airbrakes. It ends up a cdl with airbrake restriction

Oh ok... man I think our state has got to re think our testing. Ok I get it now, and I learn something new I took a class and then tested out in a full size rig so i had no idea you could do half and half like that. Well i would study the 1 min air lost. and checking and pointing out the air system. IF you already have the rest of the test done you shouldn't have to do it again. Like i said unlike other states, the pre-trip part is the easy part of the test. As long as you know how the air break system works and how to test it you should be okay. Just study the air breaks portion of you're cdl manual and you should be just fine. Well its 2:30am time for bed. If you have any-other questions just ask and i will answer them when I'm more awake.!
