I have an 06 Pete with a 500 ISX, it has no power, can't even pull an empty flatbed up a small hill without down shifting. I ahd it in to cummins and everything checks out OK. I tonly produces 28 lbs of boost but the turbo is working fine. Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong with it.

Take it to another shop. If the boost is that low either the lines are kinked, (easy to happen with the metal lines), or they could be clogged, the turbo is bad , or the seals are leaking, thats the whole job of the turbo is to give you that boost.

It's a cummins nuff said in my opinion. No JK take it somewhere else like a pete dealer and see what they say....if it's still under warranty then I guess you'll have to duke it out with cummins

Seems low to me.......I think you should see close to 40psi under a hard pull. Like musicimaker said check your air lines to the actuator on the turbo for restrictions. I have also seen lots actuators leak air around the rod and not have enough pressure to hold open the actuator. Also have your CAC tested for leaks. Any codes?

Cummins are great motors, in the proper application:

they are great on boats, however never saw one in a road tractor that was very impressive.........

Good Luck, hope you get her fixed !!!

I had a same problem with mine. No power boost would not go past 25psi. Replaced fuel filters and problems fixed. Driver filled up and fuel clogged the filters. Not saying this is the problem with your truck.

I would take it to another Cummins dealer. Some new mechanic only can fix problems when the "Check Engine Lite" is on and their repair manual tells them what's wrong.

Thanks everyone I changed the fuel filter but not the water separator, i am going to do this and check out the air lines on the actuator. The cummins guy told me I should be taking it up to 1900 RPM and not to pull it under 1600 so I tried that and it is better but no where near my Cat 3406E which is 500 hp and 1650 torque the same as this one with the same ratio in the same truck. I compared the two pulling up a steep hill with identical loads on the same trailer, the cummins was in 4th gear and the Cat was in 6th over, quite a difference.
