Hi... My husband had his dog on the road for awhile, and we had our last cat out as well.. Sometimes even at the same time, that was fun, lol.
Anyway, a wide bottom water bowl really helped prevent spilling, one each for water and food. Also, make sure you have leashes. You will stop so many places that you need to have control because of vehicle traffic. Some Chew toys would be good, to keep them from chewing on anything in the truck... they are so curious.
I know you will find lots of info in the pet section on here.
This isn't your first rodeo, so have fun.

We've been owner/operator's for 3 years now, I am the business manager and also have a full time 8-5. I am planning on getting my cdl in the next 2 months and have it ready to go so that when our youngest is outa high school in 5 years I am ready to go OTR with my husband. It's been an interesting and life changing 3 years, but truthfully I wouldn't change it for the world...I am very excited to see what the next 5 years bring us. Good luck to you and your husband, oh and by the way we just adopted a 1 year old male ####zu, he is very energetic. One bit of advice as to the dogs in the truck, they fit just about anywhere, and the one place our little guy sometimes likes to go is under my husbands feet, which isn't too safe while driving. So needless to say our guy stays home unless I get a chance to go. Have fun!
SWEET TATTER and kickin chicken Thank this. -
How is o/o working for you guy's, I have read so many pros and cons that it's not worth the hassle and driving for someone else is just as good. Just wanted your thoughts on it as it may be an option down the road..
Glad to hear thing's are going good and thank you for giving your little guy a home.. They are such a good breed and I don't know what I would do without our girls, I swear at times they are human...
Take care

I won't lie, it is a very expensive business to get into...sometimes it feels like we're barely seeing daylight, but praise God he's been faithful and we have pretty steady hauls right now. One thing that has helped is that my father is semi-retired. He likes to go OTR a couple weeks out every few months, so when he goes, they go hard, won't get home for 3 weeks or so. Then he takes about 2 months off. It works for him and for us. My husband was a company driver for 13 years so he loves being independant.
As for our little guy we love him alot.kickin chicken Thanks this. -
We've been o/o for nearly 2 years now. It definately can get expensive. The one thing that saves us is my husband can do almost all the maintenance and repairs himself. He is amazing. Only the really big stuff do we need to outsource. Prevention is the key. Pre-trip, pre-trip, pre-trip. We have some o/o friends who spend more time in the shop than out, sometimes for the smallest of things.
The best benefit of o/o is that we get control of where we want to go, how much weight to haul, and when we want time off.bullhaulerswife and SWEET TATTER Thank this. -
Prevention is definately the key! Thank God and my hubbys (and dad's) mechanical skills as well that for the most part only big things get done at the shop. I agree with the benefit thing, love the freedom of being able to pick and choose what we want to do.
I can't wait to get out there full time, but I definately am enjoying the time I have with my girls at home! -
you ain't lyin Nana!! lol

we use one of those big ice cream buckets lol so the water won't spill. but we keep a towel under it to keep it from getting hot. the floor of a truck can get HOT!!
