99.9% of the info on this thread is wrong. Points may be given to a driver if an INSPECTION is done. Points may also come from ACCIDENTS. I have read all of CSA2010 and can't find any other way points will be given. If I'm wrong please post LINKS.

In response to Heavy Dude
Basically CSA 2010 is a trackable history of a carrier/drivers violations of the current FMSCA Green Handbook. Each violation is broken down by every section and part, Example: Sec 395.8, etc. It is then broken down by (a) (b) etc., Each violation is then assigned a severity weight and points given. Each violation, is then awarded the responsibility of the driver or the carrier. If it is addressed as a regulation in the handbook, section and part, it will affect your CSA 2010 score. -
Heavy Dude
Take your Green CDL FMSCA book for every section and rule number: Example 395.8, etc. The 97 page CSA 2010 points breakdown manual which lists points given, severity weight for each violation received, multiply this by 1-2 or 3, depending on age of violation will give you where you are at as a driver in the standings. Not many people will take the time to print this FOC manual out. I did, it is in a binder in my truck at my co. yard. I will post this direct address upon my return. Rather than believe hoopla, I actually do take the time to be knowledgeable and have facts. CSA 2010 is a specific break down of all the current regs FMSCA has in their book-plus an additional section ---380 something -- that will be included in the new FMSCA handbook, whenever that comes out. I will tell you, that the points given and severity weight for as yet section-- 380 something-- violations is already established.
If a driver honestly believes that receiving a ticket, which in anyway involves his/or her CDL in the course of performing their job, is a violation of FMSCA Green Book, individual section and part, will not effect their individual CSA 2010--well speed on and haul overweight.
Basically, CSA 2010, is in effect to track the little Green Handbook violations per company and per driver. Only at this time, carriers will face intervention for an inadequate rating. Drivers, unfortunately, although are not penalized directly for their individual negative rating, they are because this rating stays with them for pre-hire with a different company or puts them in jeopardy of being fired -
That's absolutely WRONG!
The only violations that go into the federal database have to be noted on a DOT inspection report... i.e., a level I, II or III inspection. That includes full-fledged tickets AND warnings.
Tickets you received from a county mounty that do not involve a DOT inspection - whether in your personal vehicle or in a commercial vehicle - are not reflected in CSA2010 scores.Rocks Thanks this. -
Well, I guess I will subside on this issue. I have contacted FMSCA under my name for actual facts. I come from a small town myself, I really wasn't addressing the matter of countie mounties or local yocals. It, at their level, is a matter of reporting, some do or some don't. If you go onto FAQ on CSA 2010, it states violation of any federal motor carrier regulation results in points under a professional driver capacity, but since everyone is missing that point, I shall get confirmation. I have the book that breaks it all down, guess what guys/gals, you can't get a roadside inspection violation for quite a few things that is drivers responsibility, you have to be going down the road to earn these.
