    Hello Everyone,

Well orientation is done and have been on the road for 2 weeks now, and I have to say that I am somewhat impressed. There have been some rocky roads to start with, which is to be expected when starting with a new company, and a l/p program.

What I like about the l/p program and that is at the end of the term, there is a ballon payment. If you like the truck and all is well, they will extend the lease out another 24 months. They will use the security deposit and the excessive mileage escrow and put that towards the balloon. At the end of the 24 months, hand you the pink. You finance a new truck at the bank, 60 month note. The security deposit is $6K. When you start, they pay a draw, or .25 mile. All the money that you have left at the end of the week goes toward that deposit.

They are very easy to get along with. They do represent 7 different companies. I am with Minstar, which is owned by Mitch, also who owns T-21. Minstar is very easy going, and even this week was worried about me because I had a delivery in the Cranston, RI area, during all of the flooding, and they called me on Wednesday morning to make sure that I was okay.

They will run you. My new truck is a 2011 Cascadia. The owner/ops have a choice on whether to have a QC or not. they are going to paperless, but only for those that have the QC. The company drivers do not have a choice.

So far, in 2 weeks, I only have 5k miles, but I have been through the house twice in 2 weeks, including this weekend for the holiday.

Any question, please feel free to ask.

Yes, the truck is governed at 68 until the deposit is paid, then turned up to 75. So far nothing negative

The Minstar company trucks are governed. Does not come with apu, but does come with bunk heater. They really do not want you to idle, but they also know that come summer you need to be comfortable. Yes, they check your credit, and I just had a bankruptcy the first of the year. I was able to get this truck instead of another driver because my score was higher than his.

    Bls,

Could you get an APU since you are leasing the truck? Also, how much is the balloon at the end? How much do they take out for maintenance?

Hello, you can get a APU if you want to pay for it. The ballon on my truck is $54K, which I can refinance direct with them for another 2 years. Their is no maintenance during the time that you are paying the $6K deposit. After that, it is on you. They have a .07mi fee for all miles over 10,000/mo. At the end of the lease you will receive that back plus the deposit, or can use to pay down the ballon.

This is one of the reasons that I like their lease. At the end, you have 3 options, turn it in, refinance with them, or purchase outright. Minstar has the freight. If you lease with them, and you and Minstar do not fit, then they have 6 other companies that they can get you on with.

    Hope that this helps.

    The Challenger Thanks this.

I just left there. The day that you sign the contract, you are in the hole right away. Before you start to pay that $6,000, you have to get out of the hole. Running a avg 3,000 miles a week, after 4 months, I was still in the hole for the truck payment. They do not start to take out the deposti until you get 1 month ahead on the truck payment. If you do not go deck, then you will run all East Coast from MN, back and forth.
