Were not in truck stops long for several reasons, usually were short haul and indirectly headed home, typically we load before fuel unlike the rest of the trucking world. Most of us fuel at CFN's if available. Our appointments are tight enough that we normally run till the clock stops, not normally getting to a truckstop.

We also unload average 17 minutes per trailer, reload varies but, normally they load me in less than 15 minute 6 to 8 minutes would be closer. Most customers do not order till they actually have room for the load, plants almost always have enough product to load upon arrival without appointments for loading. Very rare we do liguids, I can and do but rare.

This comes down to personal preference, I like GD rock blowers, there big and heavy the size of a GMC 871 Supercharger Blower, but made of cast iron not aluminium . The bottom mount PTO is stronger than the side mount. The main goal in picking out a tractor is to get it light as possible. For instance w/fuel my tare is 23900, and yup that includes the trailer and hoses. and tool box.

Anything I know I'am happy to share. I have been doing pneumatic for most of my driving career.

As far as setting up the truck-
Make sure you have enough clearance for the PTO driveshaft, from the front of the tranny to the driverside mid-frame. Many trucks (KWs in particular) have exhaust systems and air tanks that hang too low.

I always kept at least 2 giant rubber mallets in my gearbox, along with extra gaskets for EVERYTHING, Hose ends, slider plate gaskets and plug gaskets. Extra Cam-Locks w/pins and a 3/16" steel punch for changing them out. At least 1 45 Degree elbow. A couple of extra flo-cones. 3 or 4 male-to-male adapters. Nothing like pulling up to a silo and discovering that the product tube has a female connector.

I have a coffee can with a double 4", stack of 3" and 4" gaskets and ears. All in one can. Handy.

I just picked up the truck I'm driving from Kurley and Sears.....your $3000.00 quote is about $5000-$6000 too low......I looked at the invoice from having the 850cfm Tuthill installed complete.......8 Grand and change........we haven't considered what the 1050 cfm costs.

    What is AQMD? thx.
I have some interest in pulling a pneumatic dry bulk tanker. I now pull a milk tanker, and I like it. Fairly quick to load and unload, but the pneumatics are faster!
Not sure how much dry bulk is hauled around the Iowa area, but I would like to find out.

    Air Quality Management District.

It's a SoCal thing.... one account my company had is in downtown L.A. and they had an onsite inspector that limited unloading line pressure to 5 PSI or less to minimize any uncontained dust.

    BS.

Well actually Blowers are compressors, and they use two vanes spinning against each other to pressurize the air, turbo chargers are also compressors. GMC I think originally used this type of compressor on the old v8 diesels.

You can get them installed out here for around S3500.00 new. I believe this includes the PTO.
