Lord Have Mercy..... you guys have sent me laughing down memory lane.:biggrin_2559:

Among the best of the worst; '59 International gas engine reworked to run on diesel (factory engine) with 10spd and ruxle (2spd rearend) hauling a 35ft trailer full of tater chips. Ford w-series coe that had a louvered steel heater vent on the side of the dogbox right where 4th gear put my knuckles (still carry scars like I was a cage fighter:biggrin_2559:). Dayaam, was I ever proud when I "graduated" to a Chevy Astro.:biggrin_2559:

Tell you what tho, I'd STILL take any one of them over the crappies they're producing these days. Plastic and computers do not belong on working trucks. Our outfit just cancelled an order for 50 new Binders because the 10 we already have are down with electronic issues more than they run.

For one week, I drove a 2000 Freightliner Classic XL. My first and only "hood". Clutch slipping, transmission linkage shot, no nuts. I was scared to death, I overcompensated for not feeling where that front axle was. I couldn't see in front of me. I was a skateboarder then, and found myself out in western PA, under a heavy load of potting soil. I got buggered up on a hill, I can remember the traffic behind me as I tried to get the truck moving in first gear...trucks screaming on the cb for me to get the $%## out of the way on the two lane...

I got routed back to the yard in TX and demanded another truck with an aerodine hood. I was accomodated.

I like looking at all the pretty "hood" trucks. However, I HATE to drive one!

Worst truck I ever drove was a Kenworth T6ooa "Anteater" with a 300 Cummings and a straight 7 speed trans. didn't have enough power to pull a greased string out of a weak cat's butt. The truck was a lemon to start with my boss spent tons of money trying to keep it running. He used to joke I've replaced everything on that truck except the accelerator pedal and when we do it's time to get rid of it well lo and behold I was coming into town one day and the plastic bracket that held the pedal to the floor broke I walked into the office with the pedal in my hand and said ok it's time to get rid of this P.O.S I talked him into buying a Mack that I knew about and never looked back.

Well, after 10 looooong days in Tontitown I'm free!

The truck still seems down on power though the exhaust got fixed, fuel filter replaced and air filter replaced! Tractor ABS light is gone. Check engine so far only appears under engine breaking.

Still starts and gets down the road....

    1998 W900L Kenworth , 280 " Wheelbase , studio sleeper Airglide 200 suspension.

Roughest riding piece of junk ever made ( have owned quite a few KWS ) and leaked like a sub with screen doors.

looks as if you drive a star car now, how do you like that? I've never personally gotten to drive one, though I've heard they're much roomier than a pete.

1986 GMC Astro cabover, no power steering, no A/C, no air ride, the exhaust came out the bottom of the truck and would give you a headache.

All the trucks I owned were all very nice looking trucks, KW's and Freightliners.
