The people who left today for failing the PWS...
1.) A female that was for her height was what I would call morbidly obese. I think she failed the first 60 second test and had a band of sweat about 2" around her hairline. She was alos probably close to 50 years old, which would have lowered her target and maximum heart rate.
2.) The second guy was over 50, and not much more overweight than I, although he was shorter and weighed less, his BMI was "similar" from a comparison standpoint. I would have guessed he would have passed but also failed the step test.
3.) The third guy was younger, but probably proportionately heavier than all but one in our class.
The largest guy was a very young guy, and I do not know what his final stats were, but he had the largest target and maximum heart rate of the class.
I would guess at your height and weight you would have no problem. Outside of two cardio-type exercises, the rest are all strength based (one I would call balance oriented). I am about 6' 240lbs, and again I had almost 50% capacity to spare.
Good Luck to you. In case you did not know or get the link I posted, SNI has the workout described on their website under Orientation and training, about half way down that page.

Raider,
Any update on the shuttle issue? -
Great stuff RoadRaid3r. I'm enjoying comparing what your class is doing with mine. We lost one in our class today on the physical screening. His BP was too high, but was told he could return next week after he meets with his doctor to get it under control. Keep up the posts!

# dasco3 - I have asked two days in a row abou the shuttle. The answer I was given is that it is "on demand". Basically if any one student goes down there and asks at the front desk, they will run you down there, 24 hours a day. I know they also have other SNI drivers staying here for whatever reason, and I think somewhere along the line they just got used to it. For some reason our class can not come up with a consensus about the time to leave because some want to go early and eat breakfast, some people are just genetically disposed to being late, etc.
I think someone asked along the way about breakfast, lunch dinner , etc. On day 1 , I got a ticket for 13 meals at the cafeteria. Unlike PCDoctor, we got $7 per stamp. We can buy anything in the cafeteria up to $7 for one punch and pay the difference. It is simple to do. Because I am so cheap I usually go over and pay the difference because I would rather pay a few pennies than give away $2-$3 of value on the card! They recommend if you are going to eat 3 meals a day, to find someone else to eat breakfast (in your room, at Mcdonalds, etc) because it is the cheapest meal to buy outside the OC, and use the card to get two meals a day at the OC cafeteria.
@PCDoctor - Thanks. I am following your progress as well. I told one of our instructors I was following the progress of another person doing Orientation in Charlotte, and so far we were on the same course of study and pace. Good Luck to you!
So I am off to class. The OC is a little over a mile from the hotel, and I am going to try and finish the week walking to and from the OC for a little exercise. I want to get into a routine of trying to get some physical activity each day to break up the driving/sitting. Now is as good as anytime.
Raid3rdifference-maker, PCDoctor, The Challenger and 2 others Thank this. -
Have a safe day on the road

Sounds like you got a better deal on the meal card than we did. We only got cards for 7 meals, which would be lunch for us. However, they did forwarn us that the hotel served breakfast and dinner was on our own.
-
Is breakfast at the hotel continental? What time do they set it out? Do they give you enough time to eat, brush your teeth and whatnot and still get to class on time or is it the mad trucker dash?
-
Brush your teeth?. Driver, don't you know you do that every third day when you get a shower, whether you need it or not?
-
I opted to stay elsewhere, but the instructions for the Charlotte OC that SNI originally sent me stated that the hotel shuttle leaves at 6:30 a.m. and class starts at 7 a.m. The hotel provides continental breakfast. RoadRaid3r can respond on his locale.
