NOW THIS POST IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT THEN MOST: i think if all of us stop and think we can all agree that this business needs to change we have all become a little to much about me and not enough about we, that is not the way it is supposed to be and i think we needd to go back to we it would benifit us all.
every day you hear some one saying you can't do this or you can't do that to some one trying to make it in the business but rarly do you hear of some one offereing help in doing what there trying to do. and most of these new people have not learned that when some one says you can't it translates to they can't has nothing to do with you can't it;s they can't we have forgotten how to help and the positive attitude has long gone, with a positive attitude you can do what you please and be succesfull a it in perticular in this business. with a superior attitude and a suprior state of mind you can overcome any problem and with a little help it makes it that much easier, and what does attitude, state of mind and help cost you? not a #### thing the cheapet thing on the road all you have to have is the right attitude and you can help anyone out here . ane by god we all need a little help from time to time.
now i have made a couple of friends here on the forum one of which is down on his luck and im sure most of you know that when your down it seems that most go out of there way to keep you down now this friend i decided to help and i entend to stay with him till he gets a truck back on the road and enough contacts to keep him loaded to where ever he wants to go and what is all that going to cost me ? not one #### penny but it gives a lot of satisfaction knowing that i help a good man thrue difficult times and i made a friend to boot , what more could you ask for .
i think we all should try that somtimes you will like how it makes you fea land the satisfaction it gives you we all need to take the time to care about another driver it will make the whole business a much better busines and we as driveres much better drivers. somthing to think about and it cost nothing .. my best to all southernpride![]()

Great post !
If everybody would adopt this action(of helping out somebody else i mean everybody), the world be be much better! -
First off let me say sp our 100% right! Offering a helping hand dont cost your a thing, there are alot of people out there weather it be in the trucking industry ,or what ever road they choose, that need a mentor, the new guys are trying to not screw up and there pride wont let them accept help/ iv been a superviser ,and to chew somebody out for makeing a mistake ,(unless you know they know better) is the wrong way to go about it! People in general do not like constructive critisisum, they automaticly get deffenceive! but if you say hey friend ,youlook like your haveing problems could you use a hand ,i'll bet $100 bucks they will except! my old boss because of what i did for a liveing, i would get more upset with myself when something went wrong! the man would tell me , first ,stop. look at what your doing, back-up and take a minit to slow down, second, yah i screwed up ,just needed someone to point me in the right direction! remember he would say ," if your not makeing mistakes your not learning anything nobodys perfect! all drivers arnt the same, but in the same respect they have to give a #### about what there doing ,its not just about the money, its about pride ,want, and ,disire, and some manners, but a man is a man, the question is what kind of man ???? this is just my take on things my opinion take it for what its worth
rocknroll nik, johnday and Dieselgoddess Thank this. -
Good points here, and it could be expanded to other areas of life as well. There are plenty that don't want help, just a hand out, but there are plenty that with a little morale boost, guidance, or just a good word would take things to the next level.
It's as simple as the Golden Rule - Do unto others as you would have done unto you. Give someone a hand, as you never know when you will need it yourself. -
Sounds great,
............ anybody seen ToTo ??? -
Last I saw him he was on his way to North Dakota for the tornadoes that might be happening there.
And people wonder what's wrong with society today with all the negative attitudes and me first people.johnday Thanks this. -
Southernpride, another good post! thanks.
I was thinking this morning about unity within communities and the importance of sticking together. The old "divide and conquer" routine seems to be in full force in this industry. Keep the drivers separated and they cant unite to make a difference. I am not gonna believe for a second that big changes can be made to the current situation but I do believe that a helping hand is rewarded, in this life or the next. -
You never know when offering a hand will change/save someone's life regardless the situation or what you/they're doing.

Can this new era of kindness include teaching Americans who have lost their occupations to drive a truck when some American corporation sent their job to India?
Yes, we need to start helping each other instead of trying to tear each other apart. This cannibalistic attitude is how trucking got the way it is today. When one industry shuts down, people rush to another. It is like a game of lifeboat.
My sister just landed a job after losing her home from being out of work for six months, and that job is foreclosing on peoples homes who have been out of work and can't make their mortgage payment.
So when you are in the debtors prison, it is best to be the executioner. Right?
Yes, I think we should be kinder to one another. And it starts with ourselves. It starts with humility. How many truckers know everything there is to know about everything there is to know about? All of them? Many are the absolute authority on every subject there is to talk about, and it is their job to correct everyone! I call that being insecure.
In fact, we might be just a little like the politicians we claim to despise! We might be a little too much like the empty headed Transportation manager we all work for.
"Practice kindness and you may become good at it one day" And to think I taught this concept in my truck to all my students for 12 years. But I guess I am being defensive.johnday Thanks this. -
hubcap , heres the thing, kindness comes from with in, yes the economy sucks! but what southern pride is doing is passing on knowledge or 40 plus yrs of going thru the ups and downs in the trucking industry! And hubcap he's not saying he knows it all ! hes trying to encourage ,theres a big difference! Alot of people after they have been at a job a while get complacent and to comforable with their suroundings! When the economy took a dump it was a gold mine for the cdl mills and the bottom feeder large trucking companys! and what southern pride is doing is giveing fact, hope and encouragement!!!! most people are great at makeing exscuses instead of saying they made a mistake! and there my friend shows the differnce, To blame someone for their or your misfortune is not the right way to go ,in my opinion ,theres a way and a system to make money in this buisness, and like any other buisness you have to learn how to play the game,,,,,,and my point being 40 yrs in the buisness and still has 6 trucks on the road makeing him money, he must be doing something right>! and if people are smart they would listen to that nice southern gentalmen! because he types in a very manerlyway on here and if you dont know the man!!!! it would mean your sterotypeing him and to me i dont think thats fair ! do you?????? my biggest point here is the man dont have to say sqwat or help anyone, but , if you knew the man like i do,,,even with my yrs of exspeirence you can still learn something new!!!! i know i have time and time again hope you have a better day and not feel so negitive dino
