Hi. I have been driving since 1978. I have worked for some of the worst
companies you can imagine, in Colorado and out, many that didn't pay me, many with no heaters/ac, summer and winter. Slept in day cabs, in a lot of cars on transporters, used chewing gum and bailing wire, r and r'ed parts, brakes, electrical, did all that was asked. Flatbed, dry, reefer, heavy haul, boom truck , part time, full time, doubles, Rockies, UPS doubles and triples, companies that went under. Never been in an accident ,no DUI's,
speeding tickets. I have the state mvr's to prove it. Drove one tractor( a great w900L) that was new, the rest were old, junk, way past junk, bald tires, yet always made the delivery and pick-up. LTL, liftgate, hand unload food,
produce, lumber. Took a lot of tractors home to detail the innards and the skin' so I could live in the rig. Lost a lot of sleep and hometime, to take care of the family. I still like to drive. I can not afford my own, as gave up some road time recently, to give my 2 1/2 year old grandaughter and family a leg up. That's taken care of. I need a good driving job, have put in lot's of app's, yet no one will touch me. Been working part time, OTR, yet the company that wanted to hire me, they don't have the money to fix a tractor that's goin' down the road sideways, (badly needed 3 axle alignment), wwearing the drives badly after 1,800 miles(virgin/new) with busted steer shocks, broken heater blower in the sleeper, a short in the cab heater(blows the breaker) so no a/c. Charge air cooler is cracked, no power and overheats immediately when you step on it a little. You get the picture.... . Do I just walk away? Is there any good company left in Colorado that doesn't lie to you about why you didn't get paid( I had another driver's check in my mailbox, and the o/o siad no one had gotten paid, told me if I didn't work with out gettin' paid, the I din't have any more work.... How about somewhere in Washington/Oregon? Any positive sugestions would be helpful.

Thanks, Bigrigger. I put my ap direct to Ken Sasson up there, and even my friend who knows a driver who was a trainer up there, and switched to straight driving, gave me a reference, and no go... I have had several background checks for U.S. Mail, and worked for a couple of those, one that left me on the side of the road with no ride home, when the truck broke down (not my fault, new engine and an oil line broke, didn't hurt anything, as i shut it down), another, had a family emergency, and with approval, took two weeks off, came back and had no job. All on time deliveries in three years. I have Hazmat (TSA Clearance), no misdeameanors, no DOT drug screen problems, etc. I do the work and more, not a truck stop cowboy, keep the rig clean inside and out, and I'm a safe and courteous driver. Never a logbook violation in all the years and being pulled in or over, never an out of service. Just some overweights pulling containers and heavy haul. So where do I go from here.....

I originated the application through Weld County employment services, filled ou the whole aplication, provided all the info, gave 5 references, all who know my work ethic, faxed and emailed the same... no answer back. I don't have a clue there, it could be hr, don't meet their profile... I have a new Dot med card, and the previous was a work well 300 pound lift/push pull with flexibility test. So I think I can lift their required 90
lbs. three times as decribed by the driver in orientation... so thank you for the replies!

Have you checked your DAC/USIS report? There might be something one of your old employers put on there that you don't know about. Also believe it or not you might also want to check your credit score/rating. A perspective employer might pass on you if your score is too low or unfavorable.

I know a good company in Nebraska. Triple C Transport in central Nebraska (Doniphan) is a good one. I've been there about 2 years and they are straight shooters as far as equipment and pay. Give them a try if you like.

I've heard of a company in Denver called Spirit ----- Not sure if it's transport/trucking/transportation or whatever and don't know anything about them. Just a place to start.
