1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I graduated from Professional Drivers Institute, New Buffalo Mi back in 96 and drove for Transitall Services in Island Lake, Il, from 96-2000. I did intermodal and later switched to irregular freight (all drybox). I ran everywhere east of the Rockies from Me to Fl, to Tx, to Nd as well as runs to Denver, into On and Qc. I got pretty good managing blind loads and Canadian crossings and started teaching other drivers. I averaged 125,000 logged miles per year.

But I left the truck at the wifes request and found a good paying Mfg. job. Now both are gone and I'm looking to start over.

I still have my class A CDL and will pick up the Hazmat enforcement upon request. I have no accidents, no points, no convictions, no arrests, not even any misdemeanors. I live in Mi, but am willing to relocate. The real problem is that my experience is 10 years old.

But I don't want to spend another $5K on some school when I feel I only need a week or two running with a pro to get back up to speed.

After that, I prefer to run solo anywhere east of the rockies - just not up and down the east coast. I have no problem going east and west to the coast. I just don't want to make a habit of I95.

So if anyone is willing to work with me or have suggestions, I'll greatly appreciate it. Just leave a post here, PM me, or call me # 586-239-8277 or email jdlech@yahoo dot com.

I have a standing offer with CRST, but they're teams and don't have the best reputation in the world. I'll go with them if I have to (just to get my foot in the door), but would prefer otherwise.

I would suggest looking for a smaller company, they are harder to find but they might be willing to take you on once you can show them that you still got the goods to drive. Good luck to ya driver

10 year old experience will be hard to get in the seat again. Best bet is to try some smaller outfits. It's more because of the insurance companies than anything else. They seem to think we forget how to drive truck if we are away from it for too long. My dad has 30+ years experience and he would have to get a refreshser course. I had been out of the seat for 6 years and was told I needed a refresher course.

I don't mind a refresher course, but I would like it to be with someone other than Crusty.:biggrin_2556:
