I live about a mile from their old terminal in Spring City and grew up in this area. I didn't initially post here because, not being a driver, I can't answer the question directly. But I will say Jones Motor was a great neighbor -- good community people. My husband has done some work for their facility -- both in Spring City and now in Limerick -- and he has a lot of respect for their company.

Jones Motor is very much like Landstar, only smaller. It is an O/O based flatbed, drop deck company. You work with agents. You have to own or lease a trailer from them. They are the oldest trucking company in the US. I was leased to them until I got too old for flatbed work. Great company, good people.
Ducks Thanks this. -
heart of dixie...they have a van division too. thats what im goin to be doin. i dont have a headache rack or chains, booms, straps, tarps to run a flat bed.

Belltransit, I left there because fuel got so high and I was just "treading water". Doing a 2700 mile round trip dedicated was great for hometime, but not for the paycheck. Good luck over there. After that, I quit the road and re-tired.

Belltransit,
You are quite correct! I forgot about them. I think they are run out of Bowling Green, KY ? I never saw many of those guys, except for a hand that had a dedicated run from PA to GA. -
Didn't they pay a fuel surcharge to help defray the cost?
-
yea they pay 35% of gross up front for fuel.
-
Yeah, they pay a fuel surcharge, IF the shipper pays one. My eastbound was a dedicated that paid a nice fuel surcharge, BUT, returning to Ca. was usually a broker load and some of those brokers rip you off with their "Flat rate" BS, right? I did also have a juicy truck payment of $1937 a month.
-
35% of the gross as an advance for fuel is not a fsc.
-
i am planning on using my own fuel card. i may have to start out using theirs but i plan on switching to my own. i have my own right now with the local stuff im running. if i possibly can im goin to continue to use it where i can till i can switch to a different card.
