There have been many days during this thread where I have felt pretty stupid.
To the point of contacting management here and asking about deleting my
account here and this thread.
Who am I kidding, ........my gut says to check out after writing this.
Bottom line here is this.
There are 9 pages filled with many things that no one was saying, related or unrelated to Conway. Some good some bad, but the main thing was that we all started talking and I got support and some much needed education. There is no trucking school for how to be a truckers wife.
I did not expect so many things that have affected my husband, nor my family.
The night before I wrote this, my son was puking his guts out due to the stress. He is disabled and his dad was becoming a stranger to him. A dad full of life, was a walking zombie. What do you do when you have no where to turn? ........for me it was here.
again.....it's what I haven't been saying.
Forums have two ways they can operate.
1. Sugar Coat the site, by having management watch the posts and replies like hawks and hitting the delete key every time they think there is a fire starting.
OR
2. Giving members the opportunity to share what's on their minds.
I think the management here chose 2, and that is why this site is what it is.
Rugtrucker, I was the wacked out chick that came to this fourm, I admit it.
If this thread will save one wife from thinking she is the black sheep of the truckers wives club and if one wife is sitting out there wondering if her husband has chosen the road over her, she should know, he hasn't.
What a wife/family wants is to know that their spouse/father is being treated fairly and with respect. Not to have to pick up the pieces on the weekends and put him back together again for Monday.
I am sorry, but I really expected much more from this company. -
To the OP.
Either you are both in this to support your decisions or you should separate.
All the rest is mumbo jumbo. This is a partnership. If participating is beyond your limits inform your partner. He then can make a choice to continue by finding a new career, or dissolve the partnership.
You can raise a family, and drive OTR, and have a good marriage. These take work on from both parties same as any other partnership. But if one does not believe inthis arrangement end it now cleanly.

Thank you Tazz,
Both my husband and I are on the same page. I got his back. -
How about I read it, and I don't like it - because it's not how CNWY operates and probably no where near true or accurate. Not that I'm an old timer here but I've worked at CCX - Con-way Freight for 7 years which certainly entitles me to have a very strong opinion on this topic. I have some major issues with this company at times but will stick up for them 100% when it comes to running legal.
I hear all the BS from Freight drivers saying they told me to drive over my 11 or 14 on a via blah, blah, blah. I always ask did you report it? Answer - No.. Reason - it really didn't happen. If you were told, ask them to put it in writing and I 100% guarantee they won't.
I understand I work for Freight and don't know much about T/L, but if that was really said and the individual was reported, they would probably be escorted off the property. I have watched with my own two eyes senior drivers here get fired for falsifying logs - they lost a 90K job for an extra $800.
Some clarification on what is legal in regards to the 11/14/16 hour issues since there seems to be a great deal of mis-information and lack of understanding in general. Everything posted below is 100% accurate as I have researched this myself extensively since it's the most important part of my livelihood and I refuse to let driver BS govern how I do things.
In order to have the 16 hour exception rule you must start and end at the same domicile daily so it does not apply to Truckload drivers here - it only applies to Freight. It states very simply - once per week the driver may exceed 14 total hours up to 16 hours on the road so long as the 11 hour drive time is not exceeded. Not only is this separate from the adverse driving rule, they cannot be used together which is a big misconception. Here's another misconception - if I started at 7PM and returned back from line-haul at 9AM but was on duty till 11AM for whatever reason did I use my 16? Answer is no - so long as I returned to the domicile within 14 hours I could work an additional 10 for a 24 hour shift but my 16 would still be intact because I did not break the 14'th hour on line 3. Can you legally be forced to use it? Yes - there are no special conditions if your job qualifies you for the rule. I can indeed legally be forced to use my 16 to complete a run - if I felt like I could not safely do it I simply would not but there would be no legal ramifications.
There are two gray areas with the 16 hour rule I have never received answers for. If my line-haul punch sheet is first punched at 7:53 PM which logs 8:00 and is punched again at 10:07 AM which logs 10:00 have I used my 16? My log is a legal document while my pay sheet is not so I say no - if you said yes I couldn't argue though. Not all of our drivers reset hours every week. Some work 7 days by choice - can they use a 16? I don't know. They do meet the the 10 hours off duty while reporting to the same domicile all week so I would say yes. -
Jeep, a newb, and a newb's wife percieve things differently than those of us with experience. It's that simple and you know it as well as I do....

Well, I am stopping back in, Jakebrake12, just wondering if you are missing me?
-
Car please accept my apology. My laptop went down and just got it back up and rolling.
I was a little cranked at a few things and vented on you.
So for the record is your hubby truck load or LTL?
If he is TL do they require him to be out 21 days? -
-
There you are, it's pretty hard here finding friends, I understand the wearing your uniform to bed. Something just work better.
